I guess that pretty much sums it up.

  1. Generally you can point where you want to go if you think it’s important for other drivers to know. Especially useful when changing lanes or at a 4-way stop.

  2. I don’t really get the point of this bitch. Anyone? I could just be dumb though… very possible.

I find it’s just important in general, whether cycling, walking, or driving, to communicate. Make eye contact, use basic hand signals, etc.

  3. I think I met the dumbest cyclist in HRM the other day. I’m in the bus lane on Wyse waiting to turn left onto the bridge. Light changes and I get some cyclist trying to hug the left side of my bus while making that left turn, then he realises he needs to turn right to get onto the bike path and damn near ran into the last 2 feet of sheet metal. And he gives me the finger and curses me out as he zooms by on the sidewalk to my right at the tollbooth. A real winner.

  4. Sounds like the guy in the minivan who freaked out when I kept going straight at the end of the bike lane on St.margrets bay road and didn’t know I was going straight (I turned around and caught up with him at the lights at northwest arm drive just to find out what his deal was). Seems he was confused as to what I was going to do, he figured that since the bike lane ended that I would turn right just like he was. When I asked him how he signals when going straight he didn’t get it so I had to explain the question (and answer) to him.

    Another boring bike bitch.

  5. VOR: Yep, definitely a contender. Every cyclist I’ve seen using that bus lane knows to keep right so the buses don’t run them down.
