My bus of choice is the 68, which I take everywhere I need to go, and I’d like to know why the fuck the 68 is ALWAYS late? I mean, the 61, which goes from Spryfield to N. Preston, is always on time. Whether I catch the 68 at the Bridge, in Cole Harbour, or in Cherrybrook, it’s always 10-20 minutes. What the fuck?
—68 should 69 itself

I take it first thing in the morning and it’s aways on time. Factor in traffic and sometimes it’s the driver, and you have a late bus. Suck it up, it’s not the end of the world
I know there are a lot of people in the city who take metro transit… but can we go just one day without a MT bitch?
please?
whether it’s this route or that route…
they’re all the same. They’re all late, have fucktards on them that fart or don’t give up seats or don’t move to the back or are loud and obnoxious or have their music turned up or are crab harvesting or flashing the vag, etc…
I think it’s pretty obvious that zZz doesn’t take the bus.
word. did it for a couple years but realized I like to get out of the city once in a while and those shuttles suck ass.
I also walk to work so I suppose I’m a little more sedated than those of you constantly annoyed by their fellow metro-transit-going citizens day in and day out.
Here is some insight as to why the 68 is late. Unless it is one of the first trips in the morning, the 68 is not a dedicated run for drivers(that means that a driver does not just drive the 68 bus route all day). The driver may be responsible for driving a combination of routes such as a run that goes from Clayton park to Halifax then turns into the 68 at Trollope street or driving a route from Halifax and turning into the #68 at the bridge. If there is a slight delay with passenger issues or traffic issues the starting time for the driver is delayed therefore making the entire trip late.
I hope this shed some light.
I would really like to see a bus perform a 69, just the thought of a giant steel rectangle being able to do that is interesting.
This bitch surprises me. There are routes which can tend to be chronically late (66 Cobequid, I’m looking in your direction here), but my experience is that the 68 isn’t one of them. Going into Halifax during rush hour, or coming home, I can maybe see it. Any other time of day, there is always enough time between trips to start a 68 on time from the bridge.
61/14? Now there’s a bus that gets bogged down during rush hour. 😉
See, I’m with PDG, on this. The 14 is always late going towards downtown during evening rush hour. I used to take it from mumford to smu around 5 to get to a 5:30 class, but had to stop because even though there was always enough time in the book between it’s arrival at smu and class time, I’d always be fucking late. And I’m not talking about the 14 getting to mumford 5 minutes or so late, I’m talking 15-20 minutes late. However, when I’d take the 61 during rush hour from the Bridge terminal (going either way, and during both rush hours) it was always on time.
I was told once by a customer service person at the HRM call centre that MT doesn’t even count a bus being “late” if it’s less than 15 minutes late, and that if a bus is generally 5-10 minutes late it isn’t enough of an issue to warrant any sort of schedule change or fix. That was a few years ago so I’m not sure if it’s still the policy or not.
There are routes you can count on and routes you know are going to be late. That’s just the way it is with public transport. But I find a lot of routes are improving since I moved back to Hfx. When I started taking the 18 back in 2005 is was always fucking late. Always. Sometimes it just didn’t show up until the next [late] run. But now I think I can remember one time I noticed it was “late” leaving lacewood, and that was no more than 2 or 3 minutes.
Maybe it’s just the routes I travel, but the only route I’ve ever really experienced that is chronically late is the 52, and well….it’s the 52.
On another note, the bitcher’s handle made me LOL IRL. “68 should go 69 itself” haha
You’re right about the 61/14, Plastic Diver Guy. A few weeks ago, the 14 Downtown was 15 minutes late on a Friday afternoon. Then today I waited for it and was supposed to catch it a 1:15, but it didn’t even fucking SHOW UP! The 14 Leiblin Park (the 14 going the other way)came twice, but no 14 downtown! I had to catch the next bus and was late for work!
