I have an old 5 street banjo I haven’t played in nearly 30 years. While trying to put on new strings, Mr. 5th String peg broke in two. Fair enough, old pegs – I’m quite anxious to play again so I call a local music shop. To order a set of 5 pegs would be $100 – to which I responded with, “Are you putting me on?” Fortunately, a dear friend on FB rescued me by directing me to a banjo parts supply shop online. Total cost of my pegs with shipping? $20- fucking-dollars. So it begs to ask, just how much profit do musical repair shops make? I’m just exceedingly grateful that Hub-Unit and said friend are both stringed instrument repair people. —FB Saved My Budding Banjo Career (Yeah, it’s Me, TTFN)

Man, when I read the title I immediately thought it was posted by kay and about Desi!
They wanted you to pay all that repair shop mark-up; the costs, shipping and handling, taxes, “labour”, etc.
It should probably be pointed out here that you may want to pass on that scenic canoe trip in TTFN Country.

damn you admiral you stole mine^^ http://images.icanhascheezburger.com/compl…
But they may have thought you were talking about another kind of peggery. Do you really sound that much like Sebastard?
I guess they weren’t as anxious to get rid of their junk as fast as the ‘internet’ was. Guess you won’t be buying anything from there again, eh? Oh wait…
OP, you proved my point that local stores overprice everything, knowing full well people will order online for a better price. So OP, congrats for shopping online. To the local music stores, can’t wait until you declare bankruptcy.
I think everybody will agree with you OP, there’s nothing worse than getting ripped off by the banjo repairman.
Yeah, all business models in Halifax are based on 300% markup, just look at the convention centre… they were hosin’ ya’all
Halifax isn’t ready for quality music supplies. Maybe they’ll pack up and move too.
