I am so fed up with racism I’m tired of white people calling black people the n word and all sorts of other things. I’m tired of the blacks calling white people crackers and all that shit. I’m tired of people making fun of Asian people! I’m tired of the Natives being made fun of. I’m tired of the Arabs being made fun of. Now to the jewish people I here so many Jew jokes during the week and I am fucking fed up with it, I grew up with a Jewish family down my street and I played with their kids growing up I did not know the difference I never cared. Growing up in a small town in B.C I had black neighbours again didn’t care. Like what is the problem with people are you really that bored that you have to pick on another person because of the color of their skin? I never and still never care if my friends are black, white, arab, jewish, christian, Native or Asian. It doesn’t matter to me why should it?

Who are you hanging out with?
and where? keep my ass outta thurr.
Tell me about it. I’m a black jewish native from Arabia.
Wooooooooooooooooooooord, Miles?
Come for dinner; I got bread!
Cool Fat. I’ll bring the watermelon gafilta fish and caribou falafel.
Really? I got us KFC and thought that was perfect…
mmmm mmmmm. Thems good eats.
“Everyone’s” happy!
‘So ya, everyone’s a little bit racist’ – fuck off, buddy, not everyone’s a fucking boneheaded arsezit.
Jokes and racism are different, “making fun” doesn’t really explain which of these the OP is really encountering on a daily basis.
Racist jokes are kinda like dead baby jokes, you really need to know your audience before you can break them out.
Unfortunately, all the funny jokes are a little bit offensive to someone. Some people just don’t have a sense of humour.
If the OP was truly as colourblind as they claim, they wouldn’t even know what race/religion their neighbours were. Sounds like white guilt to me. “No, I’m not racist. A lot of my best friends are black”.
or
I’m not racist I have a color TV
I was wondering that also i ahvent delt with racisim before i dont like the use of the N word but noone i suround myself with uses it
The only time hear the N-word these days is in rap music.
“I never and still never care if my friends are black, white, arab, jewish, christian, Native or Asian.”
If you are as humourless as the OP, when it comes to friends, you probably can’t afford to be too choosy.
I personally have an affirmative action plan in place to help me meet my white-guilt-abolishing multicultural friendship quotas. I’m still looking for an elderly asian amputee if anyone’s interested.
If your having such a problem with racism, perhaps it’s the people you associate with… I’ve lived here my whole life and while we all see it now and again, I certainly dont encounter it on a regualr basis… Quite seldom in fact…
I remember Jerry the King Lawler or Bobby the Brain Heenan (on a wrestling show) saying that they weren’t racist and that they hated everyone equally.
No one is colourblind. It’s a nice sentiment, but it’s Sesame Street stuff.
When was Kathy Griffin in Halifax? I love how she makes fun of all those groups of people.
Kathy Griffin does a better job of making fun of herself…
Maybe it’s the people you choose to spend time with. I haven’t heard a racist comment in a while.
Jesus Christ OP, lighten up. Racism sucks yeah, but seriously, jokes?
Joking about our differences and distinctions is a healthy way of dealing with said differences and distinctions. Would you rather them be dealt with another way? Some people use hate speech, fists, and guns to deal. We’re all different, so why not laugh about it. Besides, the supposed “victims” of these jokes are usually the ones laughing the hardest.
Why does it seem that this thread is aimed at white people? Other races are just as racist against whites as whites are against them. When a black person thinks they’re being picked on because they are black, that’s a racist remark stating that because the cop is white, he is singling out blacks
and kramor i think that and rap music were my last times lol
While I agree with you to a degree Lukin77, my opinion could vary depending on whom/what is hanging from that tree… Can you say inappropriate avatar?…
Lukin that last sentence makes little to no sense.
Its pretty hard to racially profile white people since it was created to target minorities instead….
nm Lukin77, just found out how to enlarge pics, their is a chair which leads me to believe this was self imposed… or a cover up…
I disagree somewhat NGF, minorities can still be racist, and many are. However I do agree that his example was poor if at all relevant. Racism is racism, just because your a minority, doesnt give you a racism hall pass…
Oh absolutely Logic! I wasn’t saying that minority groups are not racist at all (trust me, i’ve seen/heard/witnessed it).
Its a different kind of racism – more in response-hatred instead of general-hatred. Not saying that its okay but if I had to put a label on it, that’s what I’d label it. However, labels are best left on clothes tags.
NOT FOR THE HYSTERICAL OR CLINICALLY SENSITIVE:
Joke: why do Irish Protestants and Catholics fight with each other..
Punchline: because no Blacks live there.
ta dum I am here all week.
Seriously though..glad to see a real discussion about racism instead of that ‘oh I am a minority and have a monopoly on being a victim’ shite…
Glad to see folks are opening up and realizing that racism does not discriminate.
It is tired, it is old….it is so grade one when we fight over Crayola Crayon colours..
Does this mean I have to stop referring to myself as a pasty-ass cracker?
🙁
no, cracker is OUR word, we’re takin’ it back. Before you know it, you will only hear the word “cracker” in country music songs.
HOT.
HOT is MY word PK, back your pasty ass off.
Everyone can be racist, however when I hear whites whining about racism toward them, it sounds so pathetic. If someone yells honkey at me while I’m walking down the street (which, by the way, has never happened) I would laugh. It’s not “good” for that person to yell that at me, but it doesn’t MATTER to me. I’m part of the race that our culture holds up as “normal.” I’m on top of the pile already. So to suggest that black-on-white racism is equal to white-on-black racism is, to me, ridiculous and sad.
What difference does it make? racism is racism, I’ve never been racist, nor had any slaves etc, so why should I have to just accept it while they, for lack of a better word, dont?
btw I really hate the use of “they” but I’m at a loss for a replacement…
Racism is bad no matter where it happens, but I think Mole Rat is pointing out that it’s silly for a white person to cry about it since they enjoy the benefits of being a majority (around here at least).
Basically, yep.
Cracker ass, Fizz. Cracker ass.
It is an unfounded assumption that all whites enjoy privilege even around here. That is racial rhetoric and propaganda for manipulation and poli-guilt.
Not all whites have enjoyed privy nor have all blacks experienced racism. Class (socio-economics) is the key determinant.
I LOL when people try and tell me that “white people are the minority”.
Oh STFU, Fat. No one’s ever claimed white people were ever or are in the minority.
But just because someone’s not in a minority group doesn’t mean their lives are automatically sunshine and roses. I know minorities that have it a lot better than I do, and I have it better than some minorities. But just because I’m white it doesn’t mean I shit cupcakes and bunnies.
I mean way to generalize.
Well its not the minorities fault if you are too stupid to use your “white privilege”. Any minority must work 1000 times more just to succeed in this shit hole of a province.
Fund my university education, and sure, I’ll use my “white privilege” to my full advantage.
I mean, my native friends I met in university all had their educations funded. No loans. I had to borrow a shit ton to get the same degree….so that right there puts me at a disadvantage over them, does it not?
I fail to see how this would make me “too stupid,” Ace.
There is no land on earth that wasn’t stolen. I don’t see why native americans are still, to this day, being treated differently from regular citizens. Time to move on for fucks sake.
No one said that all whites are high on the hog, and that all minorities are digging ditches…if you want to talk about generalization.
I think its boud time we all forgive and forget, for fuck sakes it wasnt us, fuck what our “forefathers” did, its not like I agreed with what was done in the past, frankly im sick of hearing all the whining about it. Untill this happens, it’s going to be the same ol shit…
(and no I dont take lightly about what happened in the past, but its just that, the past. We should all just agree to be equals, which we are, and get on with it already…)
Yeah hopefully it’ll all just go away and stop making you so uncomfortable.
I don’t mean to get all ideological and shit, but we’re all people, aren’t we? When it comes right down to it we all wipe our asses the same way after we take a shit, don’t we?
I dunno, maybe I’m just too much of an optimist, but I never see people as their “race” or “ethnicity,” I just see them as “people.”
I mean when I met NGF I didn’t even think he was any ethnicity in particular until he self identified as such.
I don’t deny there’s racism out there, but I think part of that is how kids are taught at home. My parents never distinguished between races — people are just people to them. My friends or my uncle/cousins who are black aren’t my “black friends” or “black uncle/cousins” they’re just my friends and my uncle/cousins. I really wish more people could look at the world like this 🙁
Mole Rat, your comment leads me to believe you would rather it not go away? It has less to do with my comfort than with the world being a better place… in my opinion.
Agreed PK
Yeah, we are all just people, and some people are racist assholes. That’s not likely to change. Ever. There will always be people who want to view the world as “us” vs. “them”. The “us” and “them” will change but the attitude will never go away. Just look at the intolerance around here. “Religion vs. Athiests” “Gay vs. straight” “True Kiss fan vs. poser” The fundamentalist intolerant my way or the highway attitudes that permeate this site are how racism takes root and the attitude is prevalent in every society on the planet.
I guess what I meant is, and it’s not the easiest to explain, is that you can certainly see people as people, and not think of people as your black friend, but that the idea of claiming oneself to be colourblind is a privilege, because whites often don’t need to think about their own race. At least not here…maybe if they went elsewhere where they were the minority.
I agree with you on what’s taught at home…when I was little I thought there was no racism, because of what I was taught in school, but my Mom told me that wasn’t true and told a story of a racist incident involving a friend of the family; that stayed with me. On the other hand a friend of mine was raised by parents who looked down on blacks and “pakis” and, despite being somewhat liberal, she still referred to them as “pakis” up until a few years ago.
Of course I want it to go away. But saying “we should all just be equals” is not really very productive. And saying that we should forget about the past is ignoring the way that the past shapes conditions in the present and future.
Well said rebuttle, but are any of the comments on an internet board very productive? I was being quite general when I say forgive and forget, of course we should all appreciate and understand the past, but preferrably as it is the past, utilize it as a learning tool, rather than a grudge match or justification for current actions…
Heh, you’re right L0GIC, maybe I am commenting about this stuff on the wrong internets board.
I agree with what you say about using the past as a learning tool, but I’m leery of telling people not be angry about stuff that happened in the past, because to me it’s not my place to tell them what they should and shouldn’t be angry about.
My main problem is with educational models which pretend that just because the worst of it is in the past, there is no more racism, which leads to people with valid complaints being hit with the “oversensitive” label.
Lets just say our previous generations have made a real muck of things, leaving us in quite the situation… Hoepfully our gen will wake the fuck up make an effort to fix these issues peacefully and efficiently…
The worst of it isn’t in the past. A study of history will quickly show you that the pendulum swings slowly to one extreme, then quickly, and often violently, to the other. If the ‘Liberal’ West continues to validate the racial concerns of minorities, homosexuals, women, and other historically disadvantaged demographics while simultaneously ignoring or even insulting whites, or in particular straight male WASPs this double standard will lead to a sudden, and violent back lash. The more you try to separate any demographic, including whites, from everybody else, the more likely and in great numbers that demographic is to responding with violence towards everyone else.
mcgayle you have a new photo
Aw Jane, dont poke the beast, you’ll awake it… Thats not good for anyone…
