I’ve just moved to Halifax and have found out the hard way about the transit schedule. How come the schedule doesn’t reflect rush hour times? I’ve lived in other cities where the transit schedule reflects the busy times. However, here, the same bus that leaves it’s destination at 8am is supposedly going to reach it’s destination in the same amount of time as the bus that leaves at 8pm!!!
Now that I know, I’ll have to leave a half hour earlier to get an earlier bus, since the one I was taking was arriving a half hour late.

There’s a transit schedule?
On the bus sign there is a 4 digit number. Dial the bus prefix with that number and it will say where the bus actually is. Details are in http://www.halifax.ca/. I suggest you familiarize yourself with this website, as it is very helpful to new residents. Took me half an hour to prepare the recycling pick up the first time.
That bugged me for awhile as well, and then I realized that you have to realize that the schedule when a bus is going to be at a stop and that is all the information it provides. Pretty much triple how long it would take a car to get somewhere, thats your schedule.
Glad to hear nothing has changed in 25 years of metro transit usage.
Don’t bother with anything Metro transit puts out. It’s a waste of time. Go Time, paper schedule, schedules at the bus shelters, schedules they have on the crt monitors that haven’t broken down yet – it’s all a waste of time.
Do yourself a favor and just use Google transit.

I use the crappy gotime schedules, though the secret is to assume your bus will show between 5 minutes TO and 10 minutes LATE…
since we can’t even figure out how to implement the GPfuckinS system they’ve been working on for…. 3 years now is it?
These days, I should be able to look up a bus on my phone and have a real time map showing me where the fucking thing is…
It would be pretty hard to estimate the bus arrival times during rush hour. Rush hour traffic can vary alot on any given day. I drive my girlfriend to work on SGR, sometimes it takes 10 mins sometimes 30 mins.
Anybody heard anything lately about a Metro Transit route to the airport? I heard something a couple months ago on CBC radio about a route possibly starting next May, but haven’t heard anything since. I am very skeptical about this happening so soon.
Yes m_kegg, they put out the tender for six buses last week I believe, with an option to purchase six more. Half hour service, with on the hour service in non peak times. They are still saying May is the date – we shall see

who ever told you the buses were going to be right on time. i think if you lived in any major city, you will find there are times when things just don’t go, according to a timetable. and yes, transit is one fucked up unit, but could you do a better job, in planning for the times, bet not?

OP, I drive transit and I ask myself the same thing. Some routes do account for rush hour, but many don’t, and it drives me nuts *cough*61/14!!!!!*cough*. If you have suggestions, bug the call centre.
