Why is it that everyday when I read the paper I am no longer shocked by what the headlines say? It scares me but I am not shocked anymore! Whose responsibility is it to keep this city safe? What is driving this crime? Are their proper facilities in place for Rehabilitation? Counselling? Psychiatric services? Job training and placement? Are people choosing alternative ways of making money over working the old fashioned way because the pay is low? Disrespect in the work place? No good jobs available? —Lots of questions… want some answers

now that i have your attention, what do you expect the cops to really do? their hands are tied by the laws they try to uphold. and as such, there isn’t much they can do either. then we have the namby pamby chicken shit courts and judges.
and then we have these scum fucking sucking lawyers, that don’t give a fuck either, they just want the bucks from their dope dealing clients. so, where does this leave joe and jane doe, out in the fucking cold, with no real legal way, to defend yourself. me, on the other hand, don’t give a fuck for the laws. you come fucking arround my door, you leave in a body bag. simple as that.

*eyeroll* Generally speaking, crime rates have gone way down over the past 20 years or so. Media coverage of crime, however, has gone way up in that same amount of time. So just ignore the crime stories and focus on something else, OP.

And most violence isn’t “random” — I don’t remember the stats, but according to one of my criminology profs, random acts of violence are really frigging low in comparison.

Supposedly the yout’ who was arrested yesterday, used an AK to commit a murder in Spryfield back in December.
And, you can never have too many assault type weapons for when society descends into anarchy, zombie infestation or planning a coup d’etat in PEI. But, I’ve said too much…

Ive been unemployed for 3 months now, i cant get a job in my trade and i cant get a job working at a store or whatever, maybe because they know i’ll leave as soon as i can get a better one. Its frustrating as hell but haven’t decided to rob anyone yet.
Well OB, you meantioned three words that aggravate the problem – Rehabilitation, Councelling, and Pyschiatric Services. The word that is missing is PUNISHMENT. Don’t worry about doing the crime because you won’t be punished. you’ll get three squares a day, warmth, clothing, and all the coddling you want. And yes most violent crimes are among people who know each other and many cases are involved in crime together.
What do you expect? Cops to be assigned to every citizen that walks the streets hoping to prevent crimes? I could walk outside my house and commit a crime right now, does that mean the cops or government has failed? No.
Crime will exist as long as humanity does. Get used to it.
I’ve always dreamed of a Utopia where the province gets a small island of the the coast somewhere and builds an Alcatraz. Send out supplies and let them fend for themselves. Of course have an arm guard tower. Let them kill off themselves. It’s win win seranio. I’m still working on the details in my head.

I ask myself this question all the time. Lived here 30 plus years. Seen a lot of change. Mostly for the worse. We were more advanced 30 years ago when we had nothing. I have moved to another province and my quality of life is soaring. I yearn to come home. But my home is no longer home but rather a place I cannot recognize.
Senor, why don’t we do a Battle Royale (like the movie/books) type thing and use Sable Island?! And then just kill the winner anyway, if there is one. I doubt there would be as people in real life are pussies.
I often wondered about this whole rehab and counseling things for criminals. Why are we in the business of trying to make people what we want them to be? It’s like when you get into a car accident and get your car fixed up, looking like new. Even though it looks good, it will still never have the same value than if it didn’t get into the accident. And what’s with assuming everyone who does bad things has mental issues and needs “help”? Can only sane people who don’t get caught be evil? Is it not possible for someone to have a mental illness as well as having a horrible personality? Murderers and rapists are all actually normal people, it’s just that they have an illness? I just don’t buy it but don’t know of a solution either.
