So there I am catching one of my favourite bands. Even got there early enough so I could secure a spot right up front before the crowd crush started. Just as they start one of their best tunes you two losers pushed me out of the way so you could enjoy “your song” saying we’ll leave when the tune is over. Not wanting to cause a scene I let you have your little moment. Truth is that song had special meaning for me too, but now whenever I hear it on the radio, instead of a poignant memory of a time in my life, all I get is a memory of your rude entitlement. Thanks for hijacking my memories. —Refuses To Be Rude

  1. Sorry OB, but you shoulda had some balls … don’t blame them because you allowed them to take your moment away … they didn’t give a shit about your moment, they only cared about their moment. Life lesson … take control of what you can … no one else is gonna put you first.

  2. Well, you can ‘refuse to be rude’ (and you didn’t, btw, all you did was allow their rudeness to keep happening) or you can stand the fuck up for yourself.

And FFS, grow up and just go to see the goddamned band again and cement yourself to the floor come bestybest song time, unless this is some shit indie band who’ll bite the dust in the next twelve minutes.

  3. Suck it up, princess. Next time plant yourself right in front of the stage if it’s that important to you.

  4. Don’t worry, OB, Joel Plaskett plays Halifax shows quite often. If you’re writing about Hedley then you can piss off instead.

  5. There’s a difference between being rude and being assertive. If you made special arrangements to land that particular spot because it means something to you, then you should have politely held your ground, you’ve earned it. The fact that they came in at the last minute suggests it really doesn’t mean quite as much to them. You were more deserving, make sure you get it next time!

  6. You *let* them hijack your memories, OB. I used to not speak up and then blame everyone else too, and then I got sick of constantly letting myself down and not having my own back.
That song should not be a reminder of rude entitlement, but rather of a situation that you didn’t stand up for yourself, you let yourself down, and that you’re going to learn from it and stick up for yourself next time because it feels so fucking shitty to have let someone else “take” something from you all because you didn’t have the courage to stand up for yourself.
But at least you didn’t cause a scene, eh, OB? Lol.

  7. the way i see it, they had one of two choices, either stay, or go. they chose the last option, which seems to me, that the song couldn’t have been that important then.
if that would’ve been myself and someone else there, you would have to have moved me by force, or you would have been moved. too many little wusses in the world today. we need a cull on the weak kneed little sookies, so that the more dominant in society will survive. it is basically the law of the jungle o.p., learn it damn quick, or you will be swallowed by the big meat eaters out there.

  8. Biscuit doesn’t have a van.

    He has a hybrid.

He had to duct tape his gut to fit into the driver seat! :O

  9. Geez and all I said was I like biscuit… He/she/it is funny and the avatar is yum looking… You guys need to get out more :/

  10. If not hearing your song hijacked your memories, whatever would you do if you were diagnosed with a life-threatening illness?

Really people – only QUALITY bitching allowed…
