This commerical is driving me nuts!! The commerical for the PC party. It is totally stupid. If the Pc’s have been in there for so long, and the economy is in trouble, doesn’t that almost say the Pcs have a hand in putting it there??? Why not let the NDP’s have a chance. The PC’s and Liberals have had their chance and screwed it up so why not let them try their hand at it. Never know , they might surprise us all. God knows they could do no worse..also the need to stop running that commerical so many damn times during the day. I watched it over and over again about 8 times within a 1/2 hr time period

  1. Funny how in a tough economy, there’s still tons of money for advertising.
I really hate the federal conservatives’ attack ads as well…it’s not even an election for crying out loud. For me, it makes the Cons look like idiots, but their strategy worked to screw over Dion and will probably work to mess up Iggy’s plans too.

  2. “Why not let the NDP’s have a chance?”

Two words come to mind why not – Bob and Rae.

  3. Two more words come to mind: Ancient and History.
Or is that “Track” and “Record”?….whatever.

  4. History repeats itself, and those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

The only person saying ‘Ancient and History’ is, wait for it…………….Bob Rae.:)

  5. Well, in all fairness, I don’t think you can hold the failures of one guy in a province not our own as evidence that the NDP would do the same thing here. Maybe if Bob were running in this election that would be a fair point, but he’s not, so it’s not.
If your standard for not voting for a party is past mistakes, then who do you have to vote for? It wouldn’t be that hard to list the blunders made by all the other federal and provincial parties over the last 10-20 years.
It’s funny that Canadians have a perfect and long memory when it comes to remembering the bad things done by the party they don’t support, but that same memory goes senile when it comes to remembering the sins of the party they support.

  6. I can’t remember the last NS provincial govt I trusted. This election isn’t about who’s going to let this province slide further down the tubes, but who’s going to do it the slowest. Perhaps the NDP deserve a shot before we criticize them.

  7. So, is this intelligent rationale for voting for the NDP:

“Why not let the NDP’s have a chance?”

That’s the kind of thinking that wrecked Ontario’s economy for a decade. It’s definitely NOT funny how a person remembers that. There’s blunders, and then there’s BLUNDERS….

  8. what makes me LOL is how the conservatives go on about how they “have a plan”…well, if you had a plan, why haven’t you implemented it already? You’ve had 10+ fucking years!

I dunno WHO to vote for in this election. I like my MP, but she’s Liberal, and I’m not sure if I want the liberals of NDP in because I think the conservatives have run their course but…I dunno.

  9. No Crackhead, I don’t think that is exactly intelligent rationale either. But if I recall, Bob Rae wasn’t exactly a toe-the-party-line kind of NDPer either. I just don’t think he is the yardstick to measure the NDP party by. If you want to decide if the NDP party is good for NS, try looking at what they have been able to do here and what they have failed to do. Compare that to what the other parties have done and failed to do. That is what I would consider making an informed and intelligent voting decision.

  10. Ha. Anyone with half a mind would
never take a party seriously when
their color is orange. That seems
like a dumb reason, but you’re
probably a little slow on your
history to see why I for one take
offense by a group that chooses
    orange as it’s color.

  11. Don’t ever believe the NDP could not be any worse… they could. And they could be far, far worse.

  12. Dex is a really decent guy – he helped a few friends of mine gratis – we could do a whole lot fucking worse. It seems to me that Rodney actually wants to lose – look at his issues – rethinking HRM – how fucking much would that cost? And the curfew – another idiotic issue – too many studies have proved this is ineffective – so what gives with this litte prick fiddler? I haven’t seen so much reckless spending since the Buchanan era, Rodney and his pals have feathered their nests nicely. As for the Liberals – Jesus H. – they had to put glasses on McNeil during the debate so he’d look more human. The guy used to fix washing machines, for the love of Dog. So let’s give the NDippers a go – can’t hurt.

  13. ‘So let’s give the NDippers a go – can’t hurt.’

‘But if I recall, Bob Rae wasn’t exactly a toe-the-party-line kind of NDPer either.’

Good lord, can anybody say ‘revisionist history’?

  14. The only decisive thing McNeil has done is shave his beard off, now he looks even more like a foetus in a suit. He’s our equivalent of Dion, another chinless wonder.
Rodney is so wooden, I’m still amazed he was voted Tory leader, and has since gone on to fuck us all over big time.
The jury is still out on Barrel Dexter – he talks the talk, but if he were elected he’d trot out the same speech the other fucks always use “now that we’ve had a chance to look at the books we’ve realised the province is in even worse shape than we thought, so we have no alternative but to tax you mutts even more, and spend our way down the shitter”.

  15. I’m with Senile.
My two words to describe NDP: Too Risky
However, it’s not like the other fuckheads are doing any better.

  16. Darrell Dexter is no Bob Rae, who by the way, defected to the Liberals. I’ve followed N.S. politics for eons and it’ll be interesting to see how he handles the Tories mess. McNeil doesn’t have his chops yet – he needs a couple of years as Leader of the Opposition. Give him an enema, it might help. As for that numb little fiddlerdick, I wish someone would pitch a minifridge at that smug little shiteating grin of his – fuck, he went from the Gym Teacher to Porky Pig in a mere 3 years. The whole PC party needs to be dick-slapped, then pistol whipped and made to drink Harbour water.

  17. You want to know how the NDP will handle the ‘Tory mess?’ See the NDP platform in Ontario under Bob Rae. You know why Rae is now a Liberal? Because the NDP won’t have him. Why not you ask? Because he’s a neon reminder of what will happen when you implement NDP policy. See Hindenburg. And it’s even better that he’s a Liberal, because now all the NDPers can say, ‘Hey, he was really a Liberal, it wasn’t shitty NDP policy that wrecked the largest economy in Canada.’ lmfao

  18. The only people who should vote for the NDP (Now Dipping in Pockets) Party are Union members and nurses. Dexter wants to hire a ton more nurses, give union members who have supported him financiall huge raises and open more emergency rooms. Hey DD (Dumb/Dumber) SHOW ME THE MONEY!! Oh ya wait..it is in MY wallet!!

  19. If I see to many “bash the other guy” comercials and not “what we can do for you” ones, I will not vote for them. If your platform is not strong enough to support itself then why should I. I want you to remind me why I want to choose you not why you should win by default (because the others are no good). It’s politics for crying out loud, you all fuck up, I just want you to tell me how your going to do it not how someone else already did.

  20. so you mean to tell me that your going to base the NDP here in Nova Scotia on one guy, who is not from here but from ontario. To say that since Bob fucked up, The rest will automatically follow him because their NDP. You can’t judge one by the other, thats like saying your friend is a crimainal and therefore so are you. And since there has never been a NDP goverment here before, how do we know he will screw it up?

  21. In addition SW, as I said above, applying that reasoning is stupid. The provincial PC’s and Libs across Canada have had numerous colossal failures….if you can’t vote NDP because of Bob Rae, how can you vote for any other part because of that party’s idiot members? Also, consider the good works done by each of the parties, even they were not in power.
It’s typical Nova Scotian political ‘thinking’….long standing histories of voting one way leading to emotionally charged responses and opinions completely lacking in reason and fairness.
BTW, I am not supporting the NDP here, just trying to suggest people take a real look at their options rather than just voting the way they always do and expecting something to change.

  22. There’s colossal failures, and then there is catastrophic economic destruction. There’s a little bit of a difference. What Rae did to Ontario economically (implementing NDP policy) was the equivalent of a muclear smoking crater. All other ‘blunders’ pale in comparison. It is the benchmark for stupidity.

  23. In the interest of perspective, there have been over a dozen NDP provincial governments between BC, Man, Sask and Ontario and only Bob Rae’s government has led to such economic failure (note as well that the ontario economy wasn’t doing well BEFORE Rae got in). That’s less than 1 in 10 NDP governments resulting in gross incompetency. Again, taking one example from history and ignoring all the rest is a dumb way to go about deciding how to vote.

  24. ‘ontario economy wasn’t doing well BEFORE Rae got in’

Exactly. Just what we need, and NDP style fix…

Tell the voters of Ontario they weren’t dumb to ‘give somebody else a chance’ without closely examining the consequences.

  25. How were they supposed to examine the consequences BEFORE they elected him?
And again, I am not saying the NDP are the right government to elect this time around. I just don’t think the Bon Rae fiasco should be the only consideration when looking at the NDP. They are responsible for many of the political and social and even in some cases economic ideas that make Canada great.
Their policies are probably not right for Nova Scotia in this economic climate, but they are not without their merits. Neither are the PCs or Liberals. Voters should take a good look at ALL their options before voting rather than just writing off an entire party because of one failure that wasn’t even in our province.

  26. I’m with Miles on this one. Everyone trots out Bob Rae, but what about the other NDP governments in the country, past and present? History can be educational, but remember, we’re in the now, so vote for whoever best fits your view of what the province should be.

Also, note to the PC party, the attack ads are clearly not working since you’re in 3rd place now. The libs, for the most part, have stuck to being positive and now they’re #2. Learn from it now Roddy, or it’s back to #3 you go.

  27. ‘How were they supposed to examine the consequences BEFORE they elected him?’

The same way you examine the consequences before you vote for anybody. You look at their plan and decide if it’s a good idea. Kinda like, ‘should I walk down the train tracks with my eyes closed….hmmmmmm, let me see…’

None of these parties has done ANYTHING to make Canada great. They are a plague.

The fuck-up may have been in Ontario, but’s that jsut becasue we haven’t elected them here. The places and names change, but the song remains the same. Like the OP said:

‘Why not let the NDP’s have a chance?’

    Ask Ontario.
