You are the coolest chick I’ve met in a long time. I can’t believe I had such a great time sitting on your couch eating Milk Duds/popcorn, having a few drinks, and watching Jem cartoons. I just wish those other people weren’t there so I could’ve gotten to know you better. I even liked your dog and I’m not normally an animal guy. Can’t wait to see you again Mrs. Z. —You Had Me At Hello

  1. Zed, you rarely fail to kill me with laughter, and you didn’t disappoint this time…when I saw the Jem reference it made me think ‘babysitter’…like maybe he is her sitter and ‘those other people’ are her kids….OL, I totally get the crush on Mommy, but Jem?? Now, if you had said ‘Cleopatra 2525’, things might be different, maybe even hot……

  2. Re: “Were you a hologram?”
Zed, I seem to enjoy you more with each comment–drinks do make Jem alot more fun (I don’t have kids to worry about, but good point)….Cleo 2525 would still be my first pick though, unless ‘Candace of the Sea’ were available (my true first pick, even if only in its paper form)…Heavy Metal is still the top comic contender for me, unless you wanna talk really old DC, like House of Mystery, GI Combat, and the Unknown Soldier (to name a few faves), even though old DC comics do not have the same aphrodesiac quality of Candace at Sea, Cleo 2525, or even Jem……sorry, I digress…couldn’t help it;P

  3. after reading the first sentence of the synopsis for cleo 2525,
“When complications arise during her breast augmentation surgery, 20th-century exotic dancer Cleo (Jennifer Sky) is put into suspended animation.” …
and you being a heavy metal fan…
I seem to know what type of entertainment resonates with you.
Definitely not the type to let the kiddies watch while babysitting…
and probably not the greatest for kicking back with a girl you’re trying to get to know either.

side note, I didn’t know Vic Pratt was an actress…
i remember her from back in my ‘ultra-fitness crazed’ days 15-6 ish years ago.

  4. Hey Zed, I didn’t even know Vic Pratt existed before Cleo, but I seem to remember her from Xena too though–no surprise:) I do like edgy entertainment, especially the kind that challenges existing stereotypes through cool means, even if it just shoves the stereotype so to the fore that you can’t put blinders on and play the ‘it’s just a film/story/book/whatever game’…Jem is probably a good kiddie precursor to Cleo–something every adolescent should watch, these days especially!

That all being said, I do agree that Cleo (as well as some of the other more ‘interesting’ fantasy and animation out there) is not the best babysitting entertainment (i.e. for the babies;))…but I think that type of entertainment may actually be a cool thing to get into with a girl you are getting to know. I really like guys who can appreciate the deets that go into stuff that pulls a lot of raunchy punches, and are able to talk about the commentary underneath the cool and/or raunchy stuff…it’s a turn-on to see brains working hard in the face of harder-core bling, ya know:)

…but I do enjoy other forms of entertainment too…..;)

  5. ok, if you’re a sheila then nothing I’ve said can hold much water…
either that or you’re a one-off exception case.

  6. I know this will probably make me look stupid, but I have no idea what a ‘sheila’ is, I was really just enjoying the conversation with you dude, honest.

  7. Thank you troodon formosus:) And yep, I’m a girl–perhaps I have been living under a rock lately, just not a rock Down Under:P I am a little confused as to why Zed thinks ‘nothing [he’s] said can hold much water’ with me…I think he’s hilarious, and he seems pretty smart……I usually enjoy his comments….maybe he’s a little cranky sometimes, but not usually, and , hey, who isn’t cranky sometimes? Seriously though, edgy is cool;)

  8. In other words, I am ‘She’…but don’t worry Zed, I’m not H. Rider Haggard’s ‘She’;)

  9. I’ve just never met a gal who likes ‘heavy metal’ (comic) and futuristic, exotic dancer fantasy shows… you’re truly outside the norm.
I can relate to that, oddly.

    I am cranky a lot… a lot, a lot.
Doesn’t help that there’s entirely too much to be cranky about.

  10. Hey Zed, you are right, there is entirely too much to be cranky about….I am also cranky a lot, I think that’s why I like heavy metal comics and fantasy so much…I also think that a lot of chicks take things like ‘heavy metal’ comics/animation at face value, instead of really exploring the underworkings, or even just appreciating the art of it all. In uni I discovered Boris Vallejo–pretty out there. I remember feeling a little guilty at the time for liking his stuff, but he is so intricate with his detail and his imagination is wild–tree branches become erect penises for women to lounge on in dark futuristic forests……honestly, sometimes it truly is just the visual that grabs me, but the social commentary is undeniable….I really like old war comics (movies too), though I have no idea what that means;)

  11. I know exactly what you mean as soon as you mentioned boris.
depth and detail that immediately lets you know it’s his work when you see one.

    Another I really enjoy… and very outstandish,…
Giger. I could stare at his work all day…

  12. I am with you on Giger as well Zed….funny, I was just looking at some of his stuff the other day–his art really made the ‘Alien’ films creepy and terrifying at a newer level than the era had seen in mainstream film….another good one is Roger Dean, although his is more fantasy–dragon and landscape type stuff. He did a lot of the old ‘Yes’ album covers (I might be mistaken, but I believe the cover art for ‘Closer to the Edge’ was his)–those covers resonate with me even more than the music, but a great pairing none-the-less….you might wanna check him out, if you don’t already know his work…
