ow! A team full of professional NHL players beat a bunch of kids from Norway; I haven’t been this moved to tears of joy since the NBA/Team USA beat Cameroon in basketball! Canada might just go all the way to a medal! D’ya think?!

with the golden boy, I don’t see how we can lose.
why what ever did we do before we had Sid the skid.
A bunch of kids from Norway huh? It’s a good thing people on this damn site do a little research before posting stupid bitches.
First of all, the USA has never played Cameroon in a basketball tournament. Secondly, the players that represent Norway at the Olympics are members of the various elite hockey leagues around the world (professional hockey players that are paid more than you to bash a black rubber around the ice with a club)
I personally don’t care that you feel as optimistic as you do about Canada’s medal chances in hockey. You’re just a dumb doodiehead whose bitch I figured I’d return.
Yeah Jonnoman, that’s why we always lost at the IIHF championships up until a few years ago when they let NHLers at it.
Hahaha…. i remember those days. Long live Fabian Joseph! I think those players are now playing in the Spengler Cup, since they can’t make the Canadian world championship teams now. Nothing like watching Canada vs. MoDo. with a bunch of AHL’ers representing us.
So jonnoman…do you think Team Canada has a chance for a medal, do ya?
The suspense is killing me!
Allowing NHL and NBA players into the Olympics ruined those team sports. What’s next…Justin Timberlake in Canadian Idol, lol?
Maybe we should allow some constitutional lawyers join our college debating teams? D’ya think?
Anyone who thinks it’s fair to allow full-time pro players like the NHL/NBA to compete in the Olympics has got their (tiny) head in the sand!
Why not just limit the competition to Canada, the US and Russia, 1,2,3…? It’s BS.
And to get “excited” about this “competition” is silly…you must feel a proper twat cheering for fucking Roberto Luango every time he “saves” a shot from some reindeer farmer from outer Laplandia!
I agree with ONE thing though…Canada better win the fucking gold, or I’m gonna laugh so hard antlers come out my nose!
Well said Frosty… although as much as Canada are expected to win gold, that are some quality teams standing in the way. And just because we can put 8 goals past a bunch of vikings on skates doesn’t mean we can match up against all the others.
I agree with what you say about allowing professionals to join in the festivities. Take it back to the days that amateur athletes lit up the podiums. Or at least allow it to be like the football/soccer tournament at the summer Olympics. All players have to be under the age of 23 with the exception of 3 overagers. While I still think it should be limited, the inclusion of a couple of “superstars” per team create flashes of brilliance and make better players out of the younger, lesser experienced ones. Sure, world powerhouses like Argentina and Brazil claimed gold and bronze, respectively, but Nigeria claimed the silver medal, almost emulating their gold from 1996. And Cameroon won the gold medal at Sydney 2000.
Just saying, how much better of a tournament would it be if Canada went into every hockey game never assured of a victory, whether it was against Russia or a team like France or Italy?
And don’t get me started on the womens tournament.
They let NHL’ers in because our, and most countries best players are in the NHL and wanted to be represented appropriatly. The other teams have NHL players as well, or from the KHL, Sweedish elite league and so on. All being professional. Many other sports in the olympics have professional athletes as well so I see no problem. Should they not be allowed to represent their counrty because of their bank roll? Gimme a break. There are many other atheltes in the olympics who get paid as much or more than some of the hockey pros, be it from sponsors or otherwise… Fucking whiners… I for one will watch every game and hope we win gold, it’s definitly not a guarantee though, Russia is after all rated #1
The Olympics should be a showcase of the world’s top athletes. Since the top hockey players in the world mostly play in the NHL, then they should be allowed in despite their payrolls. Otherwise all it is is a tournament of the not so greatest players in the world.
I am not saying I don’t like the fact that the top athletes in sports participate at the Olympics. Of course I love seeing Sidney Crosby center Rick Nash and Jarome Iginla…. it is a hockey fanatic’s wet dream to see Pavel Datsyuk play on a line with Alex Ovechkin and Ilya Kovalchuk. I am simply saying that the olympics and the IOC were originally established to promote amateur competition in sports, which is the way things were up until the mid 1990’s. The World’s top athletes showcase their talents in their respective sports’ World Cups…. The adoption of professional athletes into the Olympic movement was done solely to cater to the new ideas of corporate sponsership and commercialization of the games.
So no, not whining… rather addressing the initial bitch and some varying comments since. I know that the current economical realities in this world have kind of created a necessity for the adoption of professionalism into the games…… I am just a little old fashioned in some ways and would prefer to see some things stay tightly bound to their roots……
Go Canada Go…LOL
Both the mens and ladies hockey teams won the Gold in Utah(02)…It was an absolute thrill to watch those games:)
Russia. Gold. Men’s Hockey.
.
Norway had a player that played in the ’92 and ’94 Olympics. You call that a kid? Patrick Thoresen played in the NHL for Edmonton and Atlanta. Also, Norway kept Canada off the board in the first period. Pretty good for them.
All you people bitching about the Olympics, if you don’t like it, don’t watch it. Such a simple concept to grasp.
i don’t even wanna fucking hear about here or anyplace, but fucking assholes just can’t help themselves, can they?you want to watch, listen, read about it fine, but keep it the fuck out of everyone else’s face, that doesn’t give a damn about it,dig.
So…what you’re saying is LS, is no one should ever bitch about anything and therefore make this forum obsolete. Get a grip.
You tell him, BRoc, that’s why Luongo started ahead of Brodeur because the Norway game was a gimme. Olympic fever is in full bloom here in BC. I can see how being 6000 miles away how it may not seem as important to you, but they still are our Canadian games.
i agree mr. blue but sucks is just venting where are you ttfn, der?
Now that you mention it, where is ttfn?
“”Should they not be allowed to represent their counrty because of their bank roll? Gimme a break”‘
Sure, logic…after you give a “break” to the hundreds of professional figure skaters that are barred from competing in the Olympics, lol…
“”Olympic fever is in full bloom here in BC…””
No doubt.
But the world’s media is calling it the worst planned games ever…where did all that money go?
Yeah, there are lots of things that the media is focusing on. Everything from No snow, poor accomodations, unsafe conditions, unfair judging and those asshole protesters, but to be fair it’s a lot easier to pick on the bad than praise the good.
P.S. The torch not deploying its 4th leg didn’t help…
heehee. Go Team Canada, Yahoo. How would one get sponsorship for an entire hockey team? It’s not a singular sport. bobsledding has 4, but it is shy of a team, per se.
Hockey is played by the best players in ones respective country. They are all paid pro’s so the playing field is even.
Nice Goin’ Fat’s right. Russia will take the gold. Canada just doesn’t know how to handle their game well enough but instead throws all their tricks out on the ice in the first game. Don’t think for a second that USA and the Russians weren’t watching. They know how the Canadian players play, and who to target (i.e. injure). My money’s on the Russians.
“”They are all paid pro’s so the playing field is even.””
Lol…yeah well I’ll take an NHL salary over those in Kazakhstan, thanks…
What an incredible fail it will be if Canada loses …
Well, Kazakhstan has players that play for other international teams, just like our Canadian boys play for the American teams ect. They are hockey obsessed, like us.

Don’t ya, love wiki…a wealth of info at your fingertips…….lol
wiki can be just as much an enemy as it can be a friend. Personally love wiki, but more for the nice little reference list given at the end of the articles…
ha- i have found some pretty inaccurate information on wikipedia. That`s the problem- anyone can create an account and enter information. I used to update wikipedia with information concerning World Soccer. Was easy as pie…. I could have entered in any numbers or stats that came to my mind. Obviously I was all about accuracy.
Although here is a site that wikipedia has NOTHING on…..

Seriously- look up your home town and spend some time laughing your ass off.
hahahaha I love the “donate to Haiti, seriously” link.
Man, what have you just done to me jonnoman, I’m not going to be able to get off this thing now.
My amazing powers remain a mystery to all who encounter them….. whatever you do, don`t go to……. oh, never mind. I will not be responsible for providing another means by which to waste hours…. muhahaha.
But now I’m curious. I want more awesome goodness that provides a means by which I can waste time! lol
fine…..fine….. you definitely have to check out peopleofwalmart.com. You aint never seen fucked up until you`ve seen some of the cats on this site…. But that is ALL I will provide for you…. LOL
hah, I think I have heard of that one before 🙂
http://www.chatroulette.com has been my latest fave for the past few nights. A few too many guys wanking it for my liking (seriously! Though occasionally you see boobies), but you can still meet some interesting/weird people there. Fun time-wasting stuff.
GO TEAM CANADA! WE LOVE & SUPPORT YOU BOYS! KEEP IT UP!
Canada, USA, and Russia aren’t the only decent teams. Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia aren’t easy teams to beat. But seeing as people that bitch about hockey know jack shit about it I’m not surprised that obvious information slipped past you.
