Yesterday morning on my way to work on the #7 2 boys were using the F word on the bus so when the tall one got off the driver barred him from all buses and told him if he is at the bus stop the next day the police would be called. So today he was at the stop when we got there along with 2 supervisors and then the police came. The driver got off, left the bus door open and I could hear most of what was said. The boy is barred from all buses and any metro transit property for a month and if he doesnt listen will go to prison. I was surprised by this because rapists go free but if you swear on the bus you could go to prison. The police officer then drove the boy to school. A little harsh I would say. I think the next time a bus driver swears on the bus the same thing should apply.

—Really surprised by this.

  1. Well they do have signs posted on the buses saying that aggressive language is prohibited, but I have to agree that this seems a bit extreme. I would have to speculate that there is more to this.

  2. Not all rapists go free and that has nothing to do with kids swearing on a bus.
Maybe if we punish “minor” infractions like swearing more severely we will discourage “major” infractions like rape.

  3. I’m glad the kid got called on it, and that the things the bus driver threatened one day actually happened the next. Far too often we use empty threats with kids, and they call us on it, which is a big part of why they keep acting out.

  4. Hey OP, did you you enjoy the boys swearing while you were present? I didnt think so! So who gives a shit if the kid gets banned, he can think about his mistake while he is walking to school.
    Very weak bitch OP!!

  5. I have to say, I’m pretty pleased this happened. All too often people act like morons on buses, behaving in ways that go directly against Metro Transit’s “rules of conduct” and nothing gets said or done. I watched a very awkward situation play out on the #80 recently where some guy wouldn’t stop cursing and talking about “p***y”, all at the top of his lungs. The driver told him to keep it down, to no avail. An older gentleman sitting near me tried to intervene and tell this guy to can it, which only led to a prolonged argument between said man and said pain-in-the-ass. Which was still going on when I got off the bus. I can only assume it ended poorly, but in my mind, I like to pretend the giant chicken from Family Guy came in and kicked the loser’s ass.

  6. I enjoy the title of this bitch the most. When I first saw it, I was like,”they went where?”

    Ah, fun with typos.

  7. I was on this bus yesterday morning when all the swearing was going on. I don’t get offended very easily but I see this wankster kid get on and off the bus every morning and if I was a bus driver and had to put up with his attitude every morning I would have done the same thing…the bus driver was just trying to stand up for all the other passengers who were trying to get to work/school in peace.

Fear not though, OP…It will be difficult to enforce his punishment (no one is going to follow this kid for a month preventing him from getting on the bus). So really, all this kid got was a free ride to school without having to walk up Cogswell.

  8. Cucumber raisin, where did this kid get on and what does he look like so I can get on at the same stop if I live nearby.

  9. No judge in NS would send this kid to prison for saying ‘Fuck’. Any judge who would even take a case like this and not dismiss it would deserve to be removed from the bench.

    Foolish.

  10. I’m glad he got kicked off. There are signs like Broc said, and I agree with everything miles said. Young children that have to get on a bus everyday shouldn’t have to listen to cussing, offensive sexual conversation or who you are going to stab, have stabbed etc. I would have applauded the bus driver if I was there.

  11. It’s really cool that a bus driver can send a kid to jail without a trial or anything.

Is this a great country or what?

  12. And if the bus driver did nothing the OP would be complaining about that. Idiots, regardless of age, need to learn this shit ain’t cool.

  13. I have an errie feeling he couldn’t send him straight to jail unless he was forcing himself on the bus…but that’s just my feeling. He could probably call the cops to come and remove him from “private property” though, or some shit like that.

  14. HAHAHA, I was so creeped out by bastard fishes link that Farthe morphed into wharf as I was scrolling back to the top of the page. I had to stop and double look…*sigh*

  15. Yes Tim it is a great country and we don’t have to tolerate foul mouthed bad mannered people with a limited vocabulary continuosly uttering profanities on a bus.
Keep kicking them off the buses, especially when its -20 and 6 inches of snow.

  16. A person who talks so loud the rest of the bus is forced to listen on a pre 8:30 AM bus doesn’t need to be swearing for me to start fantasizing running him/her over with said bus. They should get jobs in morning talk radio, that way I could turn them off!

  17. And one more thing – I’d like to nominate this bus driver for Haligonian of the Year. He is a credit to his profession.

  18. Just to be clear, I’ve got no problem with kicking badly behaving people off buses, or even charging them with some violation of the law. But you can’t just send someone to jail, willy nilly, with a bus driver complaining to a cop on the side of the road. Due process and all that.

  19. Hey, uh, Tim, I agree about the point of due process, but we don’t need to launch a full-scale CSI-style investigation. That’s called a waste of money, especially since the bus driver is an eyewitness. They’ll eventually drag the kid (if they indeed press charges) to family court and charge the little shit.

  20. ’bout time they start enforcing the rules….and then backing em up. maybe we wouldn’t have so many bus bitches if that’d happened from the start.

Not blaming the bus drivers per say… they have enough to deal with. If you look at the bus bitches though, nearly every one is complaining about something that happened which is against the rules.

Keep these little shits in line and we’ll all be much happier.

  21. The title of this really confused me. there is no need for the “The” to be there. Just sayin!

I do think they went a bit far, they could of at least given the guy a warning or a smack on the ass at least.

  22. Thanks for the flood of bus memories from Ottawa’s famous OCTranspo LOL! One of our neighbours, who was a nice, quite, demur, 48 year old professional woman…well spoken, always polite, cheerful etc. Was kicked off the ‘ol 95 express for have a wee tourettes moment LOL! Apperantly she totally lost it when the driver took off to fast, and dumped in he aisle her before she got to her seat. The driver stopped the bus, and ordered her off. She refused. Police…no charge..escort home, she got a warning. Turns out, this poor lady was one of the small percentage of women who go totaly out of control during certain phases of menopause. I used to laugh at the commercial of the woman storming outside in the dead of winter to rip the AC cover off. She was so embarrased by this all, and believe me, you would laugh if you ever met this woman. “Who? did what? no chance! you are lying!” Sort of like hearing the pope won the Hawaii Iron man.

  23. What occurred was the passenger was served (by the police) a ban under the Protection of Property Act. This was likely something that occurred over more than 2 days as the 7 tends to have the same drivers long term. The kid only risks jail time if he’s dumb enough to try and get on the bus again in that timeframe.

Oh, and Bon, naming names is a nono here.

  24. Tim it is an offence, it’s called disturbing the peace and one can be arrested and placed in cells. Albeit they will, in most cases, get an Appearance Notice and be released.

  25. Was I there? Nope. I just read the bitch and made an educated guess as to what happened. Like most bitches, there is probably more to this story we’ll never know.
