next time someone wants to get knocked up, they should read about hard-up cases like single moms expecting society to pay for their child support.

  1. ummm not all single moms on welfare expect society to pay for their child support you discriminating piece of shit. get fucked!

  2. To “enough bitch” – I am currently pregnant and about to be a single mom. I find your comment absolutley insensitive. After I have my baby, I will do everything in my power to gain full time employment, while paying for my own apartment, and taking care of my baby by myself financially. The father, has no job and has no interest in helping me nor will ever be able to. I realize that the pregnancy was a mistake, and unplanned, but why should me (or any other lady that this happens to) be blamed for our mistakes when we already have to pay for them by accepting the situation we are in? In my mind, I am making the right choice by choosing to love and care for this child as a single mom, which is not an easy feat by any means. Have you not made any mistakes in your life? Are you so perfect? Our welfare system is there to help us, and if it comes to the point where I need it – I will accept that help with open arms to give my child everything I can. Luckly, I have a degree…and a lot of drive, to find a job that will sustain us both. I have been warned about the stigma that society has against single moms, your post proved it. To me, you are no better than a racist or sexist and certainly a judgemental prick that needs to get thier head out of thier ass.

  3. Good Luck with everything Becky. It’s a hard road but you seem like a person who can be successful at life. Keep putting your kid before yourself, show them only love, and everything will be fine regardless of your employment status. I am happy to pay taxes that help support people in your situation. Now, in slight defense of the insensitive bitcher, I don’t think they are talking about motivated individuals such as yourself. I think they are upset with the abusers of the system, which, unfortunately, we have many. However, I would still rather live in a society where the abuse happens from the bottom of the income demographic. I don’t know anyone getting rich off welfare or EI abuse, but there are lots of examples of greedy CEO’s living in luxury at the expense of their employees pensions. That really cheeses me off. We have to do what we can to stop people from abusing social assistance, but it’s better to have a safety net with a few holes than to have none at all.

  4. Oh, and becky…since you have a degree and everything. If you are interested in education at all you could get a BEd in 2 years (1 in Maine). It’s a great job to have as a single mom because you keep the same hours and and holidays as your kids. Although I hear it is tough to get a job teaching in halifax these days.

  5. Hey Becky, here’s one more person like Miles that totally supports paying taxes to help people like you. Good luck, wishing you all the best.
