I’ve actually really liked it here so far. I don’t think I love it, but I definitely like it. The sheer prevalence of whining honestly puts me off more than any of the problems that are being whined about – Halifax honestly isn’t as bad as people here constantly fret about it being. It’s definitely a lot smaller than I’m used to (but I used to live in London and loved the hell out of it, so I’m a bit slanted in that regard) but it hasn’t been nearly as much of an issue as I initially worried about. I enjoy being here.

Toronto is a tough place to live too. I’ve lived in the Ocean Towers in Halifax and I’ve lived in some crappy places in Toronto too. The only difference is Toronto’s crappy neighbourhoods are much bigger. But still crap.
I’ve never met any Toronto Elitists in Toronto either as they live in another part of that city then from where I lived. There are 2.5 million people in toronto and the majority of them actually don’t have shit. And the majority live in shitty neighbourhoods too.

Actually Quebec city is the largest city east or Montreal, it has about 2 times the population of HRM.
I’m from Halifax and this is the worst place to live. yeah its beautiful (whatever) and everyone is sooooo nice; that is if you like incompetence, ignorance, laziness, intolerance, garbage, the dstruction of community, history, the paving of green spaces, etc etc. I wouldn’t wish this place on my worst enemy. AND the worst thing about Halifax is that all us Haligonians think we are soooooooooo adorable, we never have to change!!! We’re perfect! We’ve thought this for 2 centuries, which is why we are BACKWARD. Grow Up Halifax. Your shit stinks to high heaven. Do something radical: evolve, put in a hard days work, learn how to drive, conduct yourself and others with dignity. Just sayin’…
I moved here over 10 months ago. I chose to come here, and I haven’t really regretted it at all. Trust me yyy – wherever you go, you’ll see the same thing. This is a great small city that has a lot of options. Bureaucratic non-sense is rampant everywhere. Hell the whole political system in the US is fucked up beyond belief thanks to right wing nut jobs. So that’s a whole country written off!
