So sick and god damn tired of seeing all the decent all-ages playgrounds being replaced with ‘0-4’ and ‘5-10’ segregated play areas. This fucking SUCKS!! Do you think my 4 year old can read the signs that says he cant play here? And after I explain it to him- Don’t think my kid doesn’t remember that he USED to be able to play here. You think he’s excited to see that shitty excuse for a toddler playground with NOTHING challenging him at all?? Not even enough room for more then five or six kids to play at one time. Fuck you who ever designed this and a great big fuck you to the person that approved it. FUCK YOU! First the Halifax waterfront playground now the Dartmouth waterfront playground. End Apart-Height!
Yup, and when your kid is 9, if he isn’t snorting meth and banging oxys, you’ll be complaining about all the 5yr olds getting in his way on the slide. There’s always some asshole who thinks the rules should only apply to other people. It not about you or your stupid kid, OB, its about liability when a 10yr old crushes your toddlers skull on the monkey bars!!!
Just let him play wherever he wants. Last time I checked (I didn’t really, but for the sake of argument), there were no Playground Police….
I agree with meaty but would like to add that when a 10 year old accidentally knocks your kid’s tooth out (because shit like that used to happen all the time on playgrounds when i was little – i mean hell the tiny ones only came up to the elbow of the big ones) you don’t lawyerup and run to the parents demanding justice.
If you choose to let your kid play with older kids, great But be aware that there are slightly increased risks in doing so.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for him getting scrappy with the big dudes. It’s what growing up is all about. You would be wise to keep that in mind and then send him into the fray.
Toddlers are clumbsy so yeah the toddler equipment won’t be so great. If your willing to take the risk go ahead. I will check the playground out before letting mine use it. There is too many accidents at playgrounds.
a. They learn to be more careful… which is good and
b. They have a new set of teeth coming in anyways.
We need to stop bubble-wrapping kids and let them get hurt.
