um……how did you miss the 70’s engineering folks? there was a drink popular with my husbands crowd called the ‘rifleman’. it was a shot from every bottle behind the bar, served in a very tall glass. and they ARE building bridges, rockets and planes today (the ones that survived)

This is why we put warnings on dangerous substances, you know, like skull and cross bones on poisons, to protect those that are not able to protect themselves. I do not know if this has actually mitigated harm, but I feel we should just stop warning people and let them kill themselves. Darwinism at its finest.

I watched a stand up routine this summer , & the comic made a comment on how with over 7 billion people on the planet. Its time to take the warming signs down on products like … paint. There is a “do not eat’ warning on paint !!! WHY ? There are do not climb warning signs on high voltage power poles ???? WHY ???
If people are so stupid they want to eat paint, & or climb a high voltage tower ,let them. Don’t warn them , let’s cull the herd, ebola just isn’t doing it fast enough IMO.
As for the drunken students, if they are only making themselves sick & tying up the emergency services, then bring in the alcool & everclear instead of lower alcohol content drinks.
Make it an initiation to drink 2 pints of each in 1 hour , for all those wanting to ‘drink their faces off’ look at how much smaller the class sizes will become. I don’t believe going around killing people is right , but I have no problem with people offing themselves, instead of a barrier to keep people from jumping off the bridge, why not a dive platform right in the centre of the span …. let those who want to try the incredibly stupid … let them do so . Whatever floats yer boat , enjoy.
That way we don’t have to take responsibility or overcome the moral condemnation of removing the incredibly stupid out of our population…we simply let them cull themselves.

Is this a correct rendering of Darwin’s theory of natural selection? I don’t recall Darwin positing some calculus of stupidity in working out his theory of the survival of the fittest. Rather, it was a case of the maladaptation of certain organisms to objective environing conditions in which stupidity played no direct role. However, stupidity may well have had a secondary, residual function, much as one sees on the comments on Bitch.
