  1. What’s worse is when they recruit their children the hold up those horrible signs. But I take great delight in knowing that this experience will help to shape those poor children into parent-hating adults. you made your bed people, lay in it…

  2. It’s legal and it’s their time to waste. Would you be upset if it was for something you agreed with?

As for kids holding signs, everybody does that.

  3. Never use an apostrophe to indicate the plural; makes it more difficult to take the writing seriously.

  4. Busy bodies with nothing better to do than spew their skewed world views.

If abortion practices were available, do you think laid back Joe would have wanted Mary to keep Jebus? I mean it would have been her choice but still…
he may not have been so accepting that all this was gonna go down.

  5. Even IF abortion was re-criminalized, women would still have abortions… except instead of having them in clean facilities by trained doctors, they would be using coat hangers, and knitting needles and douching with bleach and having ‘back alley’ abortions, and either becoming seriously injured/maimed, or dying from infection/haemorrhage.

These arseholes should probably read a fucking book and do a little research. I read a book a few years back about Canadian women and their experiences with abortion before it was decriminalized.

  6. IS A FETUS LIKE A TURD?

: “the mere thought of you vile slugs makes me sick.” almost everybody

Why are anti-abortion protesters “weirdos?” Why do they make you sick? Why are you so hysterical? Are you a weirdo yourself? Perhaps a vile slug?

Whether or not you happen to agree with the anti-abortion protesters, they do have a point. What is that point? That point, quite simply, is that they believe that fetus is NOT simply part of a woman’s body in the same way that, say, a turd isn’t part of her body. A turd can be just flushed away. Unlike a turd, however, the fetus has a potential independent human existence, one which over time will actually become an independent human existence. Do you see the difference? Do you see the difference between a fetus and a turd?

Doesn’t the fetus have any rights, particularly the right to life? Would you be in favour of late-term abortion when the fetus is viable, when it is actually a human being? Would you be in favour of abortion as just another handy contraceptive device? If it happened to interfere with the woman’s vigorous sex life, why not just whip it out? Why not just flush it like a turd?

In the meantime, don’t be so hysterical. Don’t be a weirdo. Don’t be a vile slug.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  7. If you’ve seen one dead fetus, you’ve seen ’em all.

My kid went to Ottawa years ago – a class trip to Parliament Hill and, at the tender age of 13, saw her first dead fetus in a jar, being passed around by anti-abortionists. I hate those motherfuckers for that reason alone.

  8. No, MM, if the woman doesn’t have the right to make that decision, neither does the fetus. It’s not our job to judge a woman’s predicament or situation that is protected by doctor patient privilege.

Clearly but not surprisingly you misunderstood. my point. What was my point? My point was ontological. It was not about the “rights” of the woman or the fetus at all but rather about the question as to what constitutes a human being.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  10. No, MM, I didn’t misunderstand your point. I completely discounted that question as already asked and, answered. Abortion is already legal up to a certain point and, is going to remain that way.

This “protest” has one purpose and one purpose only, to frighten and guilt young women who are in an extremely sensitive and vulnerable situation. If there ever was a case of good old fashioned bullying, it would be hanging out where women get legal, medical procedures, shaking horrible pictures and screaming things like “WHORE” and, “MURDERER” at them as they walk in.

  11. RSVP

    : The Blowhard (08/17, 12:56PM)

Well yes, you HAVE completely misunderstood my point since my question was never about whether abortion was legal or not but rather about when the developing fetus becomes a human being. Try to focus your mind on the difference between those two questions. I know it won’t be easy for you.

In any case, since you have “completely discounted my question as already asked and answered” you should be able to tell us when the fetus becomes a human being. At conception? Only when it becomes viable outside the womb? Once again, distinguish between the simple legal sense, whatever that might be, and the ontological sense, the reality of the case. You should have no trouble since you have completely discounted my question as not only already asked but also already answered.

Speaking about abortion being legal but only “up to a point,” what is that point beyond which it becomes illegal? Why is that so? The distinction itself indicates that legality has efficacy only up to that point but not beyond it. Does that mean there is a distinction between what is legal on the one hand and what is morally right on the other? Could you develop this distinction for us?

In typical fashion you arrogantly announce that the protest movement “has one purpose and one purpose only.” How did you know that? Did you interview each protester? Did you read it in some pro-choice publication?
You claim that the purpose of the protesters was simply to bully women who are in a vulnerable situation. It appears that you have also completely discounted my point to the effect that some protesters might do so on philosophical (ontological) grounds and have no intention whatsoever of bullying anyone. You sound like the real bully to me.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  12. How many times are you going to ask the same question and get the same answer from me? Fuck you’re thick!!!

The answer to your question is irrelevant to me. I don’t care when a sperm/egg combination “becomes a human being”. I don’t care when someone decides to end an unwanted pregnancy, whether it be day 1, day 119 or, day 195 cause it’s none of my fucking business. I’m not arrogant enough to think I know better, sitting outside a situation on “high moral ground” with “no skin in the game”, than someone where that decision will affect the rest of their lives. No one knows what it is like to have an unwanted human being growing inside of them except for the person with the unwanted human being growing inside of them, period. I refuse to force a decision, either way, down someone’s throat.

Where is a persons right to privacy? This is a confidential decision made between a doctor and patient that I will never know about (because it’s confidential and, I am neither the woman or the doctor in question), period, end of story for me.

PERSONAL ATTACKS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN COMMENTS. FINAL WARNING —MOD

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  15. It becomes a human being at 7:10am on day 67 of a pregnancy. Happy?

  16. Woah, woah, woah. Let’s back the truck up here, Mod. I definitely do not feel “personally attacked” by anyone, EVER!!!! No matter what is said by ANY poster. The level of back and forth that I am comfortable with may be a lot higher than other people’s, as I don’t get offended easily but, IMO, that was a pretty vanila comment. I am caught completely off guard by it’s removal and a little perplexed as to how anything that was said would constitute it’s removal or a “final warning” issued.

How much am I going to have to modify my behaviour to live inside these strict new quidelines of conduct? Is there an unacceptable level of sarcasm?

  17. RSVP

Congratulations to the Blowhard! Two of my replies to him were deleted so I guess I was convicted of a “personal attack.” Right on Mod, right on!

My only remaining question goes out to Captain McGee (08/18, 9:59AM): Was that the banjo you were playing with the Lincolns?

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  18. FAREWELL!!

Well, I guess that’s it for me. While I thought I was responding coherently to Stephen Harper’s points in respect to abortion it seems all I was really doing, according to the Mod, was engaging in a “personal attack.”

Speaking of personal attacks, the Mod’s sarcastic mimicking of my “A pleasure as always, Cheerio!” ending was itself unquestionably a personal attack.

Anyway, It was fun while it lasted.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  19. i didn’t realize it was the mod that signed off with your usual, MM. i thought that was you.
i agree, it was needlessly inflammatory and childish.
there have been instances here where warnings were justified, and instances where warning were justified but not given.
i object to the warning you were given here. i am boycotting LTWWB for a week.

  20. Disregard the dick pic comment, please. I took a closer look and they’re definitely mine from a couple months ago.

  21. I got the impression that the mod just stuck her/his comment in the middle and left the rest alone.

  22. I have to agree with Molly on this as I think it’s a crying shame that MM feels the need to walk away from this. All comments from MM and SHITMF were not PERSONAL ATTACKS by any means IMO. I’ve read every comment and mused about it from both sides of the fence. If anything, it was funny by nature (playful in intent) knowing how the 2 of them interact, no different than MM and Ivan, no different than MM and I, no different than any of us. It’s just another way of expressing ourselves. If the mod would only look back to prior convos and interactions, he/she would truly know the banter that exists between us all. We all have our fortes on subjects and also some commonalities, with MM, he gives a totally different view and perspective on issues, as I had stated before in another thread, that another bitcher would not think about, (including me) so in essence he is elevating our thought processes to a higher level. Is that such a bad thing?

Speaking for myself, MM, I’d hate to see you leave this board.

  23. RSVP

    :Klyde (08/19, 8:06PM)

Thanks Klyde. I feel the same way about leaving this board as well but when the Mod weighs in against me – I get a “Final Warning” before I ever got any “First Warning” as well as her sarcastically mimicking my “A pleasure as always, Cheerio!” ending – I realized that it was personal for her. The cards were unfairly stacked against me, so it was goodbye to Bitch.

The irony of the whole thing is that I am not a “pro-lifer” in any straightforward sense at all. All I ever maintained was that they had a point, that the fetus might – just might – not be another part of the woman’s body over which she has complete control but rather it might be a human being in its own right, depending on when one defines when “human life” begins. That, contrary to Stephen’s comment above specifying the exact time it becomes a human being, is not a biological question but is rather a philosophical one.

Some might have been offended by my comparing the fetus to a turd but my point was simple. While the comparison was a bit graphic the turd, whether inside the woman’s body or after it has been expelled, will never have an autonomous existence. No one disputes that. However, it is not the case with the fetus. That was my simple point.

The only way I might return to this board is if the Mod gives some explanation for her actions. Judging by her personal animus towards me, however, I think this very unlikely. Failing that, I see no other alternative to the course I have taken.

However, I want you to know that while I had not intended posting any more comments, I did feel it was necessary to make an exception in your particular case.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  24. Yeah. When a mod drives long-time posters who have never broken any rules from a board, you know there’s a problem with moderation.

    Who’s next? Ivan? Paingirl? FFS.

  25. The Scroat must have received a new infusion of freshly minted K!ngs J-School grads, or H^lif^x Media Coop . Bring on the charges of Thoughtcrime and dust off the rat cage in Room 101.

  26. Eh, this one’ll last a few more weeks. Same ol’, same ol’ – they come in all ready to clean things up around here, get frustrated when it, clearly, doesn’t work out and we’re on to the next mod. But not after an interim of inattentiveness and days upon days between posting of new bitches.

    Same shit, different mod.

    Carry on.

  27. I actually appreciate the fact that we get new bitchez posted on weekends and in the wee hours of the morning. But there’s been a change in tone in the editorial department. I never thought I would be nostaligic for Tim Arse-biscuit but at least he wrote like a grown-up. This rag is starting to resemble the Dal Gagzette or any other uni-paper. Regressing back to it’s roots.

  28. Well, it *is* rather comical when Annie’s blue waffle flares up and he’s cranky as fuck.

This board is so boring, now.

  29. IT WAS NUKKA!

On reflection, it seems unlikely that my “Final Warning” (08/18, 4:06PM) was really from the Mod who supposedly signed herself “Montrealman.” More likely it was Nukka (5:09PM) who, in addition to having a track record of signing other people’s names to his comments, might have had a bad conscience when I gave my “Farewell” to Bitch. WATCH OUT FOR NUKKA!

In any case, I’m having a great time posting my incredible collection of artifacts – old coins, paper money, Britains soldiers, Nazi postcards, antique weapons, and so much more – on Facebook under my real name! The pictures blow up wonderfully and you can post as many as you like at one time! I’ve just finished posting a fantastic three-part spread on pre-Confederation Nova Scotia stamps! Why didn’t I do this before?

    Don’t bother replying.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  30. On reflection, it seems very likely that your “Final Warning” was from the mod. You actually think I had access to your account to alter a comment?

Seriously, it looks like the Mod deleted whatever you wrote and pasted “PERSONAL ATTACKS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN COMMENTS. FINAL WARNING —MOD”. They didn’t sign off with “Montrealman” or “A pleasure as always” or “Cheerio!”. They fucking copy and pasted and you think that it was me. Hahaha.

I had no bad conscience about you leaving but with all this talk of a “Final Warning” with never having received a first waring made me think of what the Mod posted a couple weeks ago. You know, the Bitch to everyone (including you, MM) that was called “Fair Warning”.

The only thing on my mind is how easily your feelings get hurt and then you go off and pout. Oh no, the Mod gave you a warning- its either a conspiracy involving Nukka or its an absolutely unforgivable act that you’ll take to the grave. You were supposedly a former educator, did your students react like this after having been disciplined?

  31. You’ve got to do better than that, Nukka.

Now, tell us how you hack into other people’s accounts.

  32. It is regressing back to its roots! I never even realized it until recently, remember back in the day when The Coast was a startup by a bunch of fresh out of King’s kids? Remember Bottom Writer? Leslie Lowe? the other stuff? Trouble is, as it reverts back to its former self, we can’t do the same.

  33. As long as they can still use “fuck” in a headline, Mainstream Korporate Thought Kontrol Media will never prevail.
Hasta la victoria siempre! *raises clenched fist, rakishly adjusts Basque beret, and takes languid drag off of freshly lit Gauloise*

  34. What happened to Nukka? Where is that old hacker?

Has Montrealman nosed up his smelly secret like some poisonous truffle? On seeing the sunlight, has he slithered back under his flat rock? Here Nukka, Nukka. Come out, come out, wherever you are!

  35. THAT OLD HACKER

What happened to Nukka? What happened to that old hacker? No reply to my latest? Why not? Is the cat out of the bag? Has he given up?

Well I guess, I’ll have to go back and reply to his post of 8/28, 18:14AM. What’s up first? Well, Nukka claims that the Mod posted a “Fair Warning” which he claims I received and, moreover, that the “Mod” (i.e., Nukka) didn’t sign off with “Montrealman” or “A pleasure as always.” What to make of this?

The first thing to note is that I never received any “Fair Warning” at all but that’s not the point and Nukka knows it. The main point is that Nukka’s “Fair Warning” claim is irrelevant to the issue. The issue, in case he has forgotten, relates to the “Final Warning” I received. The “Fair Warning” bit is just Nukka’s ruse to throw the gullible off the scent. IThe “Fair Warning” bit has nothing to do with the issue and Nukka knows it.

Nukka’s second claim is just false. The “Mod’s” (i.e., Nukka’s) comment WAS signed by “montrealman,” or more properly Nukka hacking into my account and pretending to be me. For those having difficulty with this concept, see the name “montrealman” under the “Final Warning” comment. I never wrote it. Nukka did, and he knows it. What’s next?

Oh yes, now Nukka launches an “ad hominem” attack on me, the usual bluster of one who has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. “The only thing on my mind,” he writes, “is how easily your feelings get hurt and you go off and pout.” But my feelings haven’t been hurt, Nukka. Rather, my anger has been aroused by someone who would sneak behind my back and post comments over my name. That’s the only thing on my mind, Nukka, at least as far as you are concerned. And to think that I was going to say “Farewell” to Bitch because of a sneak like you.

But I know you won’t respond this time either, Nukka. Your sort never does.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  36. Now watch my comment magically ‘disappear’. Those who dish it out rarely can take it.

  37. Hey, Kitty, want to go down to the Coast on Tuesday with me and get this shit straightened out?

    : T.T. Fonebone (08/30, 10:51AM; 10:53AM; 10:57AM; 10:59AM)

Interesting thoughts T.T. but I don’t’ think – can’t think, can’t believe – that Nukka is the Mod. He’s just a semi-skilled, vindictive hacker or so I would like to believe. I hope I’m right but I may be wrong.

Your last comment is intriguing. Why not do it and clear up this mess? If I lived in Halifax I’d gladly join you and PK.

    Keep us posted!!!!

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  39. I will keep you posted, MM – Kitty and I were co-mods a couple of years back so I think we have some valid arguments for ridding ourselves of the virus that is Nukka.

  40. “Hey, Kitty, want to go down to the Coast on Tuesday with me and get this shit straightened out?”

Hahahahahaha. That reminds me of when Boru showed up at someones house……..

    I think you’re losing it!!!

  41. RSVP THE HACKER/MOD

“Oh yes. Now Nukka launches an ‘ad hominem’ attack on me, the usual bluster of one who has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar… But I know you won’t respond this time either, Nukka. Your sort never does.” montrealman (08/30, 10:23AM)

“And MM. You may be one of the smartest guys on this board, but if you really can’t figure this out I may have the wrong opinion of you.” Nukka (12:49PM)

As expected, The Hacker failed to respond to my points but rather, with the usual bluster of one who has been caught in the cookie jar, launches another “ad hominem” attack on me. As a consequence, one can only conclude that, at best you’re just another virulent hacker as I initially supposed or, at worst and if others are right, you’re the Mod. (Oh, God, no!)

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  42. P.S.

“And, MM. You may be one of the smartest guys on this board, but if you really can’t figure this out, I may have the wrong opinion of you.” Nukka (aka Hacker/Mod)

There are those who maintain that, in order to make a legitimate assessment of another’s intelligence, the person making the assessment should have a comparable level of intelligence. Of course, I am not among those who maintain that.

By the way, I note that the number of comments has decreased from 56 to 53, not counting the present comment. Who bit the dust?
