They made their bed and now they’re sleeping in it.. This is coming from someone who didn’t go to university and is still living fairly comfortable at 24. Haven’t worked minimum wage since I was 17 and have never taken a pay cut.
And one more thing.. People who work these jobs tend to be martyrs that would rather deal with the devil they know (and complain about it nonstop) than the one they don’t. Or they’ve made one or more bad choices that have limited their options.
Everyone makes choices that lead them to where they end up and it’s never too late to make an effort to change.
They should be glad we pay the money so that they have jobs. And then when they’re not working, be glad that we pay the taxes and premiums to put food on their tables through the EI system.
I’m quite content with the fact that the idiots that were more concerned with partying and f**ing off during high school are now pumping my gas, serving me food, etc.
It’s called natural selection. Survival of the fittest. Deal with it. Or get off your ass and do something about it.

yep. i work long hours in a kitchen, and my only break is running out to the alley to fire a cigarette in my “grey face”. But for the most part, I love what I do. Iknow ill never make a 6 figure income doing this. But ill always have a job. If you can work to live in this day and age and survive comfortably in this country, Youve got it made. so many people out there have it far worse.

Agreed. Most rich people get paid way more than their value to the economy/society. Most poor people get valued way less (people who make your food, care for your kids, etc). Fast food workers are basically child labourers/wage slaves. All in the name of “progress”.

I knew a guy who worked in a kitchen and he loved his job, he was a dishwasher, and on weekdays peeled vegetables and stuff. He got paid a mint for it too, plus free meals:)

Hey now, you totally missed my point. I didn’t say the rich are fucking over the poor. I said they’re being paid more than their worth. When you see a bunch of CEOs, who happen to possess most of our country’s wealth, earn multi-billion dollar annual salaries, you have to wonder whether their present value contribution to the economy is on par with their compensation. I have my doubts about that.
ALSO: If the protesters are a bunch of young, pinko, student hippies, then they likely have not defaulted on their loans. You can only default on student loans if you haven’t been a student for at least 7 years.

yes, take away the one little thing that gets them through the day… a 7 minute smoke break from the intensely hot environment washing dishes and double-running silverware.

So exactly how will these kitchen staff earn a paycheque if everybody stays home and cook for themselves. Well shit, all the people working at stores should quit and we should grow our own food make our own clothing and car makers should stay home and we can make our own cars or bikes.

For whatever reason they have these jobs. Either they enjoy or hate the job. It pays the bills and they can have a roof over there head along with food and other things. Don’t forget some places are going to have issues or do have issues with the power going up to top it all off.

My lovers a cook, & she makes a lot more than minimum wage , & you forgot to mention benefits…she has medical, dental, sure she had to be there more than 6 months to qualify…but most places have a ‘training period’.
