I went to a certain Halifax optician to see about getting glasses there, as I’d heard so many things about them.

I have a debilitating physical illness, and right now, am not working. As soon as I told the guy I could receive partial financial help through assistance, his eyes practically froze over me. He was impatient, and got huffy when I asked about progressive lenses. No matter who comes into your store looking for glasses, it is money in YOUR pocket. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. Needless to say, I won’t be using your business. But that doesn’t seem to matter to you, asshole. —Glass wearing nice girl

  1. shit honey, you’re lucky you didn’t get cartman’s doctor, he would have stapled them to your head.

  2. I have no shame either. I tell them I have a medical plan so they can bill the medical plan instead of me.

  3. It shouldn’t matter if you’re on assistance, paying out of your pocket or have a private insurance plan. I’d say a good chunk have private insurance which pays the optician, so I really don’t get why the gov’t insurance plan to pay for glasses would be any different. Unless the asssistance plan only pays out a certain portion. I suspect that’s the case: they only have a certain pay out and know you can’t afford to go any higher so he didn’t want to bother because your bill won’t be that high. It’s like when a certain “necklace” type optician tried to get my mom to spend 350 bucks on a simple reading glasses perscription to get the “free pair” when the glasses she ended up getting were slightly over $100. He figured since she had a private plan she’d likely go over the cost. She sure turned his frown right the fuck upside down.

That guy was just a douche, OP. Go someplace else
