A perfect Thursday evening at the Waterfront. I followed my ears to the most wonderful sound and discovered 30 grinning African drummers, a handful of ecstatic dancers and an appreciative crowd. There are so many folks around here who love a good drum circle, yet there are so few chances to actually break out a drum with others. This was the perfect way to draw out the community and bring everyone together via some traditional (and non!) rhythms. Kudos to the organizers for pushing the envelope and getting this happening. Being one who has gone to Africa 3 times, I can assure you they are amazing to watch and hear.
I used to sit outside a temple down the street from me where the tyco drummers practised. drums from any culture are wonderful.
