Hey bitch in the red car, thanks for almost hitting me and my friend in the crosswalk in front of the Sportsplex on Wyse this afternoon! I already fear for my life twice a day despite hitting the button and watching for cars. This time I actually had to throw my arms up and give you the “BITCH FUCK OFF” look in order for you to even notice us in the crosswalk after accelerating like a maniac down the road. It’s a busy street with SIX FUCKING LANES that almost everyone who works in the office building there have to cross to get to work. I’d really rather not have to take disability due to your ignorance and inattention.

  1. I also work on Wyse rd. and to be 100% honest almost getting hit by a car is YOUR fault. You people at crosswalks are so oblivious to the world. Maybe if you looked both ways before you crossed this kind of shit wouldn’t happen.

  2. Just because you hit the button doesnt mean the world is going to stop ALSO on this cross walk they ahve 2 buttons to press.

  3. So what dubious. Pedestrians are suppose to look both ways for an hour while assholes fail to stop.

  4. People in cars don’t really want to stop for anything. They want to drive fast, and far, and get places as quickly as possible. They DO stop for lights, and stop signs, generally, because they respect that other cars might cause damage to their own if they don’t. However pedestrians aren’t a threat to their vehicle, so if they can get away with it, most drivers would rather speed through and let the other cars stop for the person in the crosswalk.

They don’t realise that everyone else thinks just the same, so responsible peds get stuck waiting while cars zoom past. Then you see someone partly out in the road in the crosswalk, when you are coming up to it, not intending to stop, and think they must be jumping out into traffic wearing their invincible suit. When really they’ve just finally had enough of waiting for soemone to actually stop for them. So suddenly you’re pissed off because all the pedestrians these days just run out into crosswalks without waiting for cars to stop first.

  5. dubiousDUBBZ – The OP explicitly states “after pushing the button and watching for cars”. If the OP starts crossing the road when there aren’t any cars coming, or cars are far away, cars can still come off the bridge or around a corner and hit (or almost hit) them. Especially if the car is speeding.

Is everyone supposed to stand at the crosswalk and wait until every lane is full of cars stopped for them? That could take hours, and obviously the cars that do stop would be pretty pissed having to wait all that time.

  6. Do whatever works for you….I dont really care…just thought i would add my 2 cents though

  7. I hate when I have 2 lanes of traffic stopped for me and I have to stop halfway across to peer around one of the cars because half the time there is some moron speeding up the hidden lane, somehow not noticing the flashing crosswalk sign and the two lines of traffic stopped AT THE CROSSWALK up ahead.

  8. Actually I don’t mind looking – that’s just self preservation – I mind the idiots that make it absolutely necessary.

  9. You know, in a town where even public vehicles like buses don’t bother to wait until a pedestrian has cleared the crosswalk one doesn’t expect much in the way of “respect”. Maybe if they led by example, eh?

  10. If we banned automatic and allowed only stick shift we may find drivers who pay more attention to what is happening 50 or 100 yards ahead.

  11. Holy fuck. I’ll be the first to say that crosswalk is equally the pedestrian’s and driver’s responsibility but to actually say “…almost getting hit by a car is YOUR fault. You people at crosswalks are so oblivious to the world…” is one of THE most ignorant comments I’ve seen posted on here. If a pedestrian has pressed a signaling button and ensured that traffic was stopping to let them proceed, how the fuck is it their fault if some “oblivious” driver comes speeding along in another lane and almost hits the pedestrian? I’ve said it before, but the crosswalk between Barrington Place Shops and Scotia Square is another terrible spot. You, dubiousDUBBZ, are an obvious asshat.
