So with all the talk about how dangerous it is to drive while talking on a cell phone, what the hell is my Metro Transit bus driver doing on his phone? The entire time from Penhorn Mall to Barrington he was chatting away on his cell phone. Not only was he steering a giant bus with one hand, but all the text messaging he was doing at Sportsplex made him forget how much pressure was needed to put on the brake to keep the bus stopped. I must say, it’s just a tad bit annoying spending the entire time waiting at Sportsplex with the bus jerking forward every two seconds because he was too distracted to keep his foot on the brake. It’s one thing if you’re alone in your car putting everyone else on the road at risk, but when your driving a bus full of people learn how to drive. I hope you never drive my route again.

Sick of stupid drivers

  1. does anybody think the new law against using a cell phone in a moving vehicle will keep a bus driver from doing so? i mean if he’s that irresponsible to start with….

  2. I have been noticing this a lot more lately too and it really grinds my gears. How are people not getting the message that driving while phoning is dangerous? Maybe we need to send them all a text message or something.

  3. yeah, this is serious, man…I’ve pointed it out to a driver or two, and for the most part, they’re moderately offended. Just because you’re a “professional bus driver”, doesn’t mean you get to hold my life in your hands. That’s rather presumptuous thinking, to me, anyway. How would you explain to my parents the reason for my untimely death?? “The driver couldn’t stop in time, he wasn’t paying attention, and he was gabbing on his cell phone to his buddy…” Absolutely devastating, to die for someone else’s stupidity. But, unfortunately, that falls in the category of same shit, different day. Hopefully having the legislation will change the attitude.
