To the person who stole my wallet from my book bag on Wednesday morning at the a certain restaurant in Purdy’s wharf, thanks a lot asshole! I hope you enjoy the eight fucking dollars, the only money I had to last me until pay day. I’m a poor student working part time and I can’t even leave my shit in the ‘staff area’ without someone thinking the have the right to wonder in and take their pick. I don’t get it, does it make you feel good inside to take other peoples belongings or did you actually think that you’ve found wallet full of cash. Come on, think about where I work… if you actually thought that I made any money you’re sadly mistaken. But I’m sure you figured that out once you had a look through. Oh and by the way, everything has been canceled, including my optimum card because you’re not getting a penny from me. Well, except for the eight bucks… Fuck you!

Pissed off server…

  1. you can’t carry your wallet while your’e working? Your stuff may have been in the “staff area”, but at my place of employment, we have lockers with LOCKS, in order to secure our belongings. All my co-workers seem to be trustworthy, but I don’t take the chance that one of them might not be…

  2. I’ve worked in the food service for a few years in my uni-years (and beyond, ugh) and we didn’t have lockers. Most places don’t, I imagine. We’ve had people wander off the street and find their way to the staff room and go through belongings. We had people shoot up in the bathroom. We’ve had people make their way to the office area and go through the purse of a manager (of course after that the office was ALWAYS locked, but seriously, who would think that someone would wander in off of lower water st into a family/touristy restaurant and start rummaging?) Personally, I had textbooks stolen, probably sold to buy coke as that was the drug of choice in the food service at the time. So yeah, keep your kit on you at all times.

  3. then maybe the poster can suggest to their employer that they need a “secure” place to store their belongings while working…just a thought…

  4. Nobody deserves to have their wallet stolen but why people refuse to keep their wallet with them is beyond me. Luckily you got off relatively cheap.

  5. Have you looked at the tight fitting slacks that servers wear? Not exactly conducive to carrying a wallet around, let alone a purse. And if they kept them at their stations they’d be even more likely to be ripped off.

  6. Well if it simply comes down to tight pants or losing my wallet is it really that hard of a choice? I understand a purse can’t be carried around but how hard is it to seperate your cash and ID from the rest of your stuff?Anyplace I have worked that didn’t have a secure area for personal belongings means I made a personal choice not to bring valuables to work and kept my $$$ and ID in a pocket … on my person.
