Look 50% of the time I walk and 50% of the time I drive. I gotta pay my mortgage, so I work and my work requires me to be mobile. I am equally shocked and awed at the ongoing stupidity for both driver and pedestrians. Drivers: it’s a fucking mirror use it and despite your own version of self importance, generally no one is in that much of a rush to see you. SLOW the fuck down. Pedestrians: The little white lines on the cross walk are by no means some magical Harry Potterish force field where by my vehicle will some how slam into and bounce back as a means of keeping my car from plowing into your completely oblivious ass. Despite your own version of self importance, no one is that fascinated by your witty text repartee or your HUGE weird looking fur lined hood. So STOP, LOOK and then move dumbass. I mean, seriously, do you think walking on the road of the oncoming side of traffic, during a snowstorm while texting is a good idea? Yes I know I’m not SUPPOSED to hit you with my car, but sometimes little boy/girl, life takes fucked-up turns and cars skid or slide on the ice and despite our desire not to plow into you while you and Biff/Sarah Ann trade deeply important text messages, it can happen. Take some fucking accountability, grow the fuck up and pay attention. —Bimobile

I saw quite the gem this morning: some bitch was doing her hair in her car and decided she didn’t need to actually HOLD ONTO the wheel and almost smashed into a snowbank.
And what would’ve pissed me the fuck off about that is, I would’ve been late for work because it’s not like you can just pass asshats like that when they’re jack knifed in the road in front of you and plowed into a snowbank.
Have some consideration for others, asshats (esp this asshat)!
funny i had that scenario happen to me last snowstorm…. going down a hill with icy roads and some dummy in a parka listening to tunes just walked right out in front of me…. i layed on the horn and the brakes and as i was sliding toward him i knew there was no way i was going to stop in time. he didnt seem to hear the first 2 beeps but the 3rd woke him out of his stupor long enough to jump out of the way… and quite likely shit his pants.
It wassn’t even a crosswalk… was a T intersection by jellybean square just passed the pizza place.
im glad he perked up at the last second or he would have been dead for sure.
yeah but then, if they grew up, the earth would be overpopulated. good thing we have stupid people to help cut down on this blight on the surface of our planet. oh, excuse me, the u.s.’s planet, i forgot, they think they own everything on earth, including it too.
When I drive I have my spidey-sense. Had this guy backing out of a parking lot wearing a hoodie. It didn’t enhance his peripheral vision. He had no clue of his surroundings.
firstly, there is NO law stating that it’s the responsibility of the pedestrian to make eye contact with the driver of an automobile, period! I,myself, will try to make eye contact to ensure MY safety when crossing a street in Halifax, due to the fact the drivers in Halifax are terrible,i.e.lack of signal lights, speeding towards a red light, cutting off other cars, driving in the wrong lane to turn, etc, etc, etc…remember,it’s totally the responsibility of the driver, not the pedestrain, you have a two ton killing machine behind you..just slow the hell down, your house will still be there when you get home!!!
re: halifax mentor’s comment,
in this city pedestrians must cross at designated cross walks (which includes unmarked ones) if they want to be on the right side of the law. However, when people are crossing this way and that at any point in a road, without looking or paying attention to oncoming traffic, in snowy wet conditions, that is stupid and the drivers would not neccessarily be at fault in the law.
re: halifaxmentor,
When a pedestrian gets killed just they just marched across the street…. guess what…. driver gets a fine…. and then goes on with their life (albeit carrying a load of guilt)
the pedestrian is still dead………. you can have it carved in your tombstone…. “here lies a man who had the right of way!”
Smarten up and be aware of your surroundings
I hate some drivers in Halifax. At intersections without lights, maybe 1 in 5 drivers will stop to let me walk. One guy skid to a stop to let me go (I wasn’t even near his car, he just stopped because other cars stopped for me) and he gave me a dirty look. SO SORRY I need to cross the street and inconvenience you. The worst on route: Agricola and Bilby.
