To the owners of the new restaurant. It’d be nice if you offered a free Dinner to everyone who lives on the third floor of the apt. building since all of us have been subjected to jackhammers, saws and drills since September. To wake up hours before you need to every morning to someone hammering below your bed has been a real challenge. An apology or a thank you for our patience would not go amissed. And it would help with positive advertising as you can imagine that all of us aren’t pleased and have been bitching about the noise since the beginning. A token of appreciation would stop many from complaining to potential customers of yours about the lack of compassion and caring shown to those living above your restaurant.

if its the one on barrington, theres been rumors of free meal or some such thing…..its a bar though.
You “have been bitching about the noise since the beginning” and now you bitches think this guy should give you free dinner and appreciation? I’ll bet he’ll get right on that. Idea! Give up your parking spot for restaurant customers. THAT will get you something. Bitching will get you nothing.
If you didn’t already know this, there are noise abatement bylaws in the city, that the city actually enforces. Between 11 PM and 6 AM I Think. You could have shut the fuckers down if you had called the Police. Unless all you are seeking is free vittles in exchange for the loss of sleep, then forget about that idea.
I’m not sure what the by law is for construction but for general noise I believe it’s earlier than 11pm and later than 6am. Check this out with the city, OP. Don’t be surprised if they are following the by law though: construction companies tend to cover their arses in respect to noise laws and such.
6am is a pretty god awful time to be woken up by jack hammering if you don’t HAVE to be up at 6am. Shit, some nights I’m just GETTING to bed at 6am 😛
It isn’t the construction on a street off of spring garden by a south “park” is it? That shit’s insane. I’d lose my shit if I had to listen to that all day.
When I lived with my parents a certain coffee chain a certain hockey star from Dartmouth does ads for was put in their backyard (literally! — well the empty lot behind their house). They could start at any time because there were no noise laws in the town I lived in because of heavy industry on the shoreline. Anyway, they were nice enough to not begin until 7am, and when it opened they were 24 hours and you could hear the drive through speaker at all hours, but were super great about turning it down when some neighbours mentioned they could hear the speaker throughout the night.
so you never know, you may get a free meal if you ask nicely (or mention the noise).
You should express this in a nicer letter and give it to them anonmously, you will be surprised what you get if you just asked.
