This is the usual banter as we stand outside the Library doors Sunday pm at 1:55, “well they’re government employees, they won’t open a second earlier than they have to…if this were the military, blah, blah, blah”

Here’s my suggestion: close the Library down on Sundays because obviously the service is so bad how could anyone hope to get any decent service? I feel bad that the world doesn’t revolve around people that think that somehow they are special and should get into a venue because someone is doing their job and have been instructed to open precisely at 2pm. Yes dear children Christmas is coming on Dec. 25, not a second sooner.—Maybe the birds don’t sing as sweetly for you, but that’s what they do

  1. wow who pooped in your cornflakes…… im sure that in other cities the libraries are all open 24/7 365 with librarians who bring you coffee and rub your feet while you read.

orrrrr… its just like any other job where you have opening and closing times that you are expected to follow as an employee….. its called process…..

  2. I think the bitcher is bitching about the people who complain that the library doesn’t open earlier. I don’t think he’s saying he wants them to be open earlier.

  3. But whine, whine, it’s a government institution, whine, whine, we pay there salaries, whine, whine, we the people are their bosses sob, sob, we are entitled to all libraries being open 24/7/365(6) because they have to cater to us. Does anyone have any crackers.

  4. I must confess – 3 minutes for popcorn is a honking big wait – so I thought I’d do it old style with the saucepan, butter, sizzling and spitting on a burner. Lesson learned here is butter topping does not disguise charred kernels very well. I will have a lot to answer for in Popcorn Heaven.

  5. might as well close all libraries anyway, there are very few to use them. we have this new fangled thing called the intenet remembers. i really can’t see me going to a place, sitting there all day, looking thru cards or what not, to find something that i can get with just a few keystrokes and a little knowledge of how a computer works. these places are dinosaurs, and will be extinct soon anyway. why not just put them out of misery now, while they are dormant. sundays are like most days in them, very, very few people around. and this new waste of money they call the mainland south center.

  6. …and Pixie Stix..holy fuck, if I had a couple now, I’d be doing very painful half-cartwheels across Citadel Hill. The Red Bull of the 60s.

  7. Wow! Suckster, you obviously have not been to a library in decades. Little cards, eh? Most people sit at home and search the library catalogue online, request items, renew items (i.e. books, dvds, cd’s) etc. for pickup or dropoff at the library. Those who don’t have computers and internet at home can avail these at the library. Oh, and then there are all the programs for kids that they offer. Just because you fail to see the purpose of libraries in today’s modern society doesn’t mean thousands of others do. Books will never go out of style. They certainly work better in power outtages:)

  8. Mmmmmm…pixie styx. The jumbo version in the plastic straw is still available at a certain freakish shop and a certain yellow bulk foods store, TTFN, just in case you ever need a certain sugar rush down memory lane.

  9. The popcorn time on the packages is just put there to fuck with your head. Depends A LOT on the microwave. I’ve only ever had one experience with a microwave that resulted in perfect popcorn: the cheapie danby model one size larger than mine.

I have to put it on for longer with mine because if i don’t only 1/4 of the bag’ll pop…and I STILL have to fish out the burnt kernels and pop another bag.

Mr Red-in-bopper needs a bop in the head.

  10. LS, it doesn’t matter the time or the day, every library I’ve been in always has people in them, either borrowing materials (books, DVDs, CDs, etc), going to events, using computers or watching a movie in the theatre (at least at the Woodlawn branch for movies).

  11. hahaha. tis true pk. it’s really a suggestion. it’s a bit like baking cookies, depends on the oven and geography. if you cannot taste the difference between store vs homemade cookies, there is no hope *squack*

  12. Mmm… jiffy pop. We still get them when we go camping and cook them on the camp stove. Shake, shake, shake!!

  13. oh yeah my bad…. haha well that comment goes out to the grumblers out front of the library then. OP gets a cookie 🙂

  14. I mistook one for the last bit of a crayon once…
not surprisingly the picture wasn’t very good.
    tasted delicious though.

  15. Actually I don’t eat popcorn at all, really, anymore. Too hard on my tummy 🙁

I prefer creamy dill ruffles 🙂

  16. i like plain kettle type chips. popcorn sticks in my giant wisdom teeth caverns. lots of room for them , they just grew funny like…sorry donk

  17. Why should they open earlier because of the people waiting outside? i don’t see the point… a few minutes earlier wouldn’t make the difference.
