An email is sent asking for help with your music events. I kindly take the time to reply and offer my time months in advance. Get one email stating you’re working on it and you’ll get back to those people. Then I wait for a finished response and as the events get closer I send an email asking for a schedule. Something might have happened right… who knows? Still nothing. If you don’t want to be known for using the same people all of the time, how about picking some others like myself who make the effort? Not even one event of the many you requested people for? You stated you would be getting back with an email… your word should mean something! I love music but this kind of thing SUCKS!!! You should have also sent out a preview of the exciting lineup for the summer in an email, not having to read it in some one else’s entertainment section. —Sunny No More

there’s something sorely wrong with this email. Volunteering your time and effort is doing someone a favour, and you make it sound like they’re doing YOU a favour. You’re doing THEM a favour, OB! Remember that!
It’s like when I was in PR and businesses and organizations would solicit volunteers from students and required a fucking resume and cover letter. A RESUME AND COVER LETTER TO VOLUNTEER! They’d write the solicitation out like a job ad too. Yeah, I’ll get right on applying to do free work. Most of my profs were keeners and shit and would actively promote this shit, but I had one prof, who, although their teaching style sucked, wouldn’t advertise volunteer positions because she knew they were just cheap fucks trying to get free labour and I respected her for that shit.
OB, tell them to shove their ‘opportunity’ up their arses.
Yeah, and tell ’em you’ll be happy to volunteer to help ’em do it, too.
believe it or don’t, but i have actually volunteered for shit simular to this, years back. taken the time from my work week, and arranged a lot of shit, then was told it would not be going on. man, i was livid, and told these people, never to ask me ever again.
but don’t give up on some things, there are a few charities out there, that do need your help, and maybe mine.
Guess you ain’t one of “those people” OP. Welcome to the club.
