So, the Federal Government and their bureaucrats spent $750,000 to attempt to nickel and dime our veterans out of their benefits. Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot? Is it the ’90s all over again? Not all the “detestable scumbags” are hiding in caves in Tora Bora. Ottawa has its fair share, too. —Army Brat

agreed colonel, what a disgusting display of stupidity. india bravo india mike bravo
Screwing veterans over is just fucking wrong, especially when the Senate is in a collective coma – you can be sure they are handsomely compensated for their senility.
Ivanski, I have found the perfect gift for you – now if I could only knit:

i suspect this is col. ivan. but no matter who it is. yeah, they are gonna fuck the military once again. and now dexter the fucking fool, has bailed out that new page shithole with a bunch of cash that could be used for something a tad more useful, like lowering taxes in this fucking province.
but wait now, the price of gas has gone way down 10 lousy fucking cents a litre. gee, that’s just wonderful. so, when it goes back up next week by a buck a litre, will we still have to laugh?
vets get fucked more ways than you can shake a stick at, and i know a few that aren’t too fucking pleased right now. the legion has a few folks that would like to tar and feather some of these polititions, and then hang them over a fire ants nest, dipped in honey. yep, ain’t canada just getting fucking better. where do we all sign up to become islamics?
The bureau would be proud of all you profilers >: )
W.B. Yeats got it right when he said:
“Those that I fight I do do not hate.
Those that I guard I do not love”
TT, I wonder if you could adapt that pattern to make a pair of bedroom slippers…..
And again – Fuck you Harper, you gutless pimp.
I’m afraid to look. Am I going to get boned again? It’s bad enough that my Military pension is going to be cut back when I get old, and the RCMP get fucked in the same way.
Political pensions…(DELETED).
Sometimes our politicians should just overrule these civil servants. I really do not believe that any elected official would come up with the idea of cutting veteran’s benefits, that smacks much more of federal beancounters. The power of some senior civil servants (those people that grossly overpaid and not voted in by anybody) is quite scary. Nor does their seem to be any accountability or transparency. I frankly find it quite unsettling.
You are correct Troodon. Politicians come and go. Nobody elects bureaucrats and they have to bugger up bigtime before they are held to account.
Provincial taxes are under provincial jurisdiction, Veterans Affairs under federal jurisdiction. Not sure why one would lambast our Premier for the way the feds treat our veterans.
canned, that comment was meant to go along with the bullshit the feds are dealing out daily. seems the federalis aren’t the only ones fucking up on a grander scale each new day. when will it stop? probly when there is no one left in canada. and the islam thing is meant to be shown that we might as well be dictated to by them, because we are fast on the way to having a facist gubment now. seig hiel mien harper in ottawa.
“Islamics”?
Hillbilly-to-English Dictionary still around?

The next time Peter MacKay says he’s supports our armed forces members I hope someone near him spits in his face…. that IMO is the least he deserves.
Stevie Harper should be up on the mat by Canadians over this as well.
The last thing the Service men & women who went where the assholes who are elected to run this country told them to go, who fought & sacrificed their lives ,& well being , their family time etc should have to face is a battle at home for compensation aka their pensions.
I’ve got an idea, make it law that no politician can get anything in benefits aka ‘Their pension’ that is one red cent above a veterans.
Watch & see how fast the beureaucrat who came up with the cuts gets fired then, hopefully the voters of this country will show these bozo’s the door. Maybe the next bunch of crooks to get elected wil realise fucking with our veterans pisses people off & they won’t try it !
Veterans have always been fucked around with. This is nothing new. My grandfathers both served on the front, in combat in WWI. They both got a pension that in the 1960s was a whopping $20 a month. My mother was embarassed to cash his cheque. One grandfather in addition, due to trenchfoot, received one pair of orthapedic shoes a year.
OVER SIMPLIFIED?
“So the Federal Government and their bureaucrats spent $750,000 to attempt to nickel and dime the veterans out of their benefits.” Army Brat
In what appears to be the usual Harper smear, Army Brat suggests that the nasty feds just want to nickel and dime the veterans out of their benefits out of pure malevolence. But are things as simple as that?
The dispute at one level is jurisdictional. Senior military officials claim that military ombudsman Pierre Daigle has exceeded his remit to fairly adjudicate disputes between the government and the military and has, instead, become an advocate for two former soldiers suffering from post-traumatic-stress disorders. According to Daigle, the two former soldiers who had suffered from PTSD and who were hired as peer-support by Operational Stress Injury Social Support were unfairly forced from their jobs by OSISS management. However, Rear Admiral Andrew Smith, the Canadian Forces Chief of personnel, told Daigle that he had no jurisdiction to look into the complaints from the two veterans.
At another level the dispute is financial/legal. The class- action law suit brought by Dennis Manuge on behalf of 4,500 veterans could, depending on how many years back the federal compensation plan would go, could cost taxpayers $600 million. The government wanted to reduce the amount of long-term disability benefits by the amount of the monthly Veterans Affairs disability pensions they already receive. There seems to be a reasonable case for disallowing two distinct disability pension benefits, the one for the veterans and the other for the veterans’ PTSD. The veterans, for their part, claim that it is unjust to treat pain and suffering awards as income. The legal, and by implication the financial point, is that while the Veterans Affairs disability pension should count as income, the PTSD disability pension should count as something else. Is this a legitimate claim?
In any case, to suggest that the Federal Government and their bureaucrats just malevolently wanted to nickel-and-dime the veterans out of their disability pension benefits falls far short of a complete account and comes close to being just another Harper smear.
A pleasure as always.
Cheerio!
I would think someone would worry more about their people and not their careers!
ttfn, where can i find the pattern for those booties. i have someone that can make them for me.
