Seriously, if you are not old enough to buy protection, you are not old enough to be having sex. I’m so sick of seeing women and young girls going to clinics to “take care of their problem” or popping the morning after pill like candy. If your man can’t wrap it up then he is not worth it! —Just sayin

Apparently you can take plan b in the morning and it works if you have sex that day. It’s sad how it’s being used for birth control when it was never intended to be.
Plan B, or an overdose of BC pills (that’s another morning after pill-type option) is not a fun thing to take. The extreme nausea/vomiting alone should be enough to deter someone from having to use it a second time.
Birth control pills aren’t expensive (the ones I take are 15 bucks a month at the pharmacy, and I pay 20% of that through the government drug plan). Planned Parenthood can also fill prescriptions for BC pills, I believe, and they charge the lowest rate possible. A friend of mine used to get her nuva rings there for 15 bucks while the pharmacy charged another friend 45 or something.
I’d say babies/children are a lot more expensive than 15 bucks a month.
It’s also sad that young girls seem to be looking at abortion as a birth control method. I know two girls who have had multiple abortions. Wouldn’t it just be easier to slip a condom on your partner’s junk? Or go on the pill? Or, keep your legs closed? There are plenty of “sexual” things you can do without actual penetration. *shrug*
Well said, PK.
Birth control doesn’t work for everyone though, so if by some chance there is an “accident” while I’m with someone, I’m taking the safe road and taking a morning after just in case. I haven’t done that though so far, just for the record. I just like being safe over sorry.
And yes TMI, I know.
What I find really surprising is that the levels of STD’s aren’t higher !
After all , if all this bare backing is going on & all these women are getting pregnant & aborting, you’d think that STD’s would be through the roof !
I know that when having sex with a female, for the first time (or only time). I always protected myself, not just to prevent pregnancy, but for the STD’s as well.
Because you can’t tell by looking, you often can’t tell unless tests are done ! ! Even as a drunken young guy cruising the watering holes in Halifax in the late 70’s/80’s I carried condoms.
When I went to Montreal in late 1980 for a couple of years, I always used condoms…never caught anything & to this day have never had anyone ‘looking for me, cause I’m the dad ! ! !
Surely i’m not the only guy who realises how important that is .
And that’s what Plan B is meant for, FA. It’s a back up for accidents and given to rape victims too. Problem is, some women are using it over and over and not realizing that every time you do use it, its effectiveness goes down. And it’s VERY rough on your stomach.
It’s funny though, because without a prescription it costs between 40-50 bucks…with it costs 20 and it works one time. You could buy more than one condom for 20 bucks, and pay for a pack of BC pills if need be and the pills would work for multiple days 😛
And, I’d just like to say that I am aware that BC pills aren’t 100% and neither are condoms. I have a friend, who, honest to GOD got preggers while her bf was wearing a condom and she was on the pill. How that happened, I don’t know, but their 9 year old is proof that it CAN happen.
You’re right, More. Condoms are SO important. It’s scary how many people don’t use them when they’re with a new partner or just hooking up. If you and your partner got tested before you started to become intimate, great, but I tend to err on the side of caution because you don’t really “know” a person after a couple months, even. They could be screwing around on you for all you know. Just because you’re monogamous, doesn’t mean your partner is.
A great deal of trust needs to be built before I’ll ditch the condoms. And i don’t hand out my trust to the opposite sex easily.
“What I find really surprising is that the levels of STD’s aren’t higher ” Believe me More … they are HIGH, very high. In the past 2 yrs we’ve seen more syphilis in Canada than we had in the previous 50 …
O.O
That was meant to say NS, not Canada.
just sayin’, yeah, that’s about we can do, because these little idiots think it’s cool to be knocked up at 12-13. wait til they come to the real world, where one has to take care of their own. there shuld be no welfare fo people. it you wanna fuck, do so, then take care of yourseves, not me having t feed and take care of your kid for the rest of it’s life.
yeah, i guess you should have known better, why didn’t you then?
kitty, you know this how????????
I educate myself on women’s health issues and I read a lot. *shrug*
As I’m getting older (mid forties) do the females I see with babies in their teens or just look young? When I travel the bus and see these young mothers, I just hope to God their man is out there providing for them. That’s if the guys don’t do the Uhgg! See Ya, don’t call me!
Of course the best way for a female to use a BCP is to hold it between her knees……..Ducks.
It’s unbelievable that with all the sex education and easy access to condoms, BCPs etc, that there are so many kids having kids and STDs.
Totally agree with you, OP. If only the morning after was available the day after sebastian’s rents conceived the world would be a better place 🙂
PK- do you have a source for any information on the decrease in effectiveness? Just curious- Plan B is a high dose of hormones. Birth control is a lower dose, longer term dose of hormones. If birth control doesn’t decrease in efficiency over time, then why would Plan B?
I’m not advocating overuse, I just don’t think that adds up.
I’d like to know where all these girls and women are who are popping Plan B’s like regular birth control… the side effects suck, as if anyone wants to go through that if they can help it. I think this is something people are blowing way out of proportion.
Bro Tim… doesn’t matter what kind of education you put out there. Look at drug and alcohol abuse. You can tell people til you’re blue in the face about all the dangers and side effects of drinking too much, yet our bars will always be full of people just waiting to destroy their livers, hearts and brains.
Besides, who has time to put on a condom? :-S
these guys have ‘time’…
http://www.mp3lyrics.org/h/hootie-the-blow…
and what with groupies… hopefully condoms.
I sure hope you meant that last point facetiously, mr jonno! Condoms save lives! *serious face*
what, no shrug?
if you actually shrug half as much as you type it, you’d have traps batista would envy.
Condoms also prevent lives!
The situation didn’t warrant a shrug, zed! Condoms are serious business.
And isn’t that kinda the point of birth control? To prevent lives? Jesus if every conception that was avoided from condom usage actually happened… :S
*SHRUG* (eat it, zed).
again,
“doesn’t matter what kind of education you put out there.”
Condoms cure cancer too!
Do you know anyone who wears a condom that has cancer?
no? then it must be true!
condoms also promote exercise but you never hear them hitting the kids with that angle.
CBC did a piece last week reporting that the rates of Chlamydia were going up at alarming rates. I don’t recall all the details as I was having supper and that doesn’t go well with scarfing. I think it was amongst the student population.
They should have a “morning after” bus permanently parked and operating at city housing, free of charge, the cost could be deducted from Crime Stoppers budget.
Actually, the Vatican was going on a while back about how condoms cause HIV. They were telling this to kids!
I mean, theoritically it could happen because they could use the angle that they encourage people to have sex and condoms aren’t 100% effective against diseases… but that’s just irresponsible marketing.
Thanks to Lady Gag-reflex (twice in the same morning -LOL) STDs have become the latest fashion accessory for prostitots. Cheaper than Louis Vutoon and easier to acquire than an African baby.
the vatican? *cough* arrest the pope…roo
Cmon, Painey, I hear that Pope Benny has officially forgiven all those orphans for tempting poor innocent priests into the path of sin^^^
>; )
Howze the back today? Boy & Squeeze enjoying the environs?
mornin captain, the kidlets are having a fun time…they are sooo cute together^^my back still contains a large knife between my 5th and 7th vertebrae…hopefully my appointment at the pain clinic on thursday will give me some relief. i really want my life back
We want that for you too.
And we want our Painey back, hale and hearty. Rooo!
People should have to prove they have sufficient income before having children. Just spreading your legs and popping out babies thinking those welfare checks are going to make you rich is fuct. I agree OP, those stupid bitches with the strollers have no fucking clue and spend more time on their backs than walking.
Yeeeah popping the morning after pill like crazy? Then they wouldn’t have time to have sex. I vomit enough just with my birth control, having to take Plan B every day would just about kill someone!
Cannatell, I think it is possible that Plan B would reduce in effectiveness if you “pop it like candy” as I have heard that birth control won’t be as effective forever, especially if you have the kind that has the same amount of hormones every day. I take ones that keep changing each week; the first week after my Aunt leaves is the lowest dose, the next week it increases, and so on.
I don’t get these people that say birth control is expensive. Mine is like $60 every three months. Most of mine is paid for by BlueCross but if it wasn’t and I was a poor 13 year old girl, I probably would think twice before having sex. Actually, I did. I got the pill when I started thinking I wanted to have sex. Especially if you’re someone who doesn’t believe in abortion, don’t have sex if you can’t afford $60 every three months. And I guess don’t have sex thinking an abortion is a regular form of birth control. Although, I don’t see how someone getting multiple abortions has any effect on anyone else but that person so what’s the deal other than it’s just another reason you find to not like someone?
People still use condoms!? lol
I have a problem with this bitch and some of the comments that give the false impression that women use abortion as a regular form of birth control. No one actually uses abortion as regular birth control, even if they have had more than one. This is a notion perpetuated by Pro-Lifers a lot, and it goes hand in hand with their general unfavorable opinion of women… and that bothers me.
Abortion isn’t something you pop in to do after tea and then skip away from fifteen minutes later. Surgical abortion requires multiple visits to your doctor beforehand, a whole slew of tests need to be done, you go through counseling to talk about your decision and most of the time they tell you to think about it for at least 24 hours to make sure it’s what you want. The procedure itself is pretty invasive, having your cervix forced open so things can be inserted into your uterus is not fun. You get drugs that can have shitty side effects, severe cramping and abdominal pain is common for days after-wards. Some women have to take drugs for a while afterward to help stop any post abortion bleeding (more shitty side effects!). There’s of course follow-up doctor visits and follow-up counseling. Keep in mind that the later you abort the more involved, invasive and difficult to cope with the procedure.
Medical abortion is no picnic either. It takes roughly a month to do and also follows several appointments with the doctor and counselor. You end up getting an injection that has yet again, shitty side effects. And after that, you get to enjoy putting pills up your vagina that make you cramp up and vomit. Then there’s some more medication to stop the vomiting and some heavy duty pain killers for the cramps. You start to bleed like you’ve never bled before for several hours, not just blood but large blood clots and chunks of fetal tissue. There’s always the danger of bleeding too much at this point, which I think is remedied by more drugs probably with shitty side effects too. Once it eases up a little you end up bleeding (less) consistently for anywhere in-between a week and a month. Post abortion followup doctors appointments and counseling. And again, the later you abort, the worse the experience tends to be.
While the whole thing is extremely physically and emotionally draining, there are no stats to back up the pro-lifers’ arguments about how having an abortion is guaranteed to make you spiral into a life shattering depression. Some women feel fine emotionally after, and some don’t. Even if the follow-up polls did show higher rates of depression (they don’t), it’s impossible to definitively say that the abortion was what caused the depression or that they weren’t depressed before the abortion, because having a control group of emotionally blank women for comparison is problematic… people like that don’t exist.
Regardless, no one actually goes through this repeatedly instead of using any of the several contraceptive technologies available in this country. No one decides to have irresponsible sex because abortion is so awesome (it’s not awesome).
On a side note, access to abortion does not make people more likely to be sexually irresponsible. Lack of sexual education, access to resources and contraception, and a sex negative environment is what causes sexual irresponsibility among both men and women. These are the issues we need to work on that cause unwanted pregnancies (other than contraceptive failure which is very common).
I don’t know… blah…
Well said, thank you snoop.
