Fuck Halifax’s rent, which is so high I live in Purcell’s cove with a minister and her 4 indoor cats. Fuck the buses that don’t run past midnight (when I finish work) which brings me to fuck the sparse and randomly placed, ultra-narrow, unprotected “bike” lanes that I’m forced to ride 40 minutes on in winter while dodging drivers who have no clue the lanes exist.
Should have stayed in Montreal

Amen on the late busses.
The taxi companies must have a lot of pull for there not to be late busses…especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It is truly ridiculous.
Are you fucking kidding? I’m looking at paying $2000 in January in a real city. You can get a 2 bedroom for about $1200 here. Halifax has CHEAP rent!
$650, if you want a bad area. I’m looking, and it’s positively depressing. If I had the money, my ass would be moving to Montreal or Toronto. At least there, people admit to be ignorant assholes…they cling to this, “We’re so friendly!” crap here, and lemme tell ya, most people here are just as big of assholes.
Ahhhh…. 1000 sq ft loft apartment with huge deck, walk in closets, back and side yard, firepit, power included, right on the ocean…. $500/month. Oh yeah.
Where the HELL are you NW??
3 bedroom, 3 levels, deck, yard, and driveway.
$750
lorilulu fill me in on that!!!
co-op housing. You would be suprised how many houses in HRM belong to a co-op. Fill out an aplication and wait for one to open up. Its a great place to live while saving for bigger and better things, and if you have a low income you can even get a subsidized unit, where you only pay a percentage of what you make.
Purcell’s Cove, seriously? If you want cheap rent, there are places in Dartmouth that aren’t all ghetto for quite reasonable prices. A lot of places in Dartmouth are better served by buses too.
Since when is Purcell’s Cove considered ghetto?
Purcell’s Cove isn’t ghetto, I was referring to Dartmouth with that statement.
yea ya should take your ass back to mtl and pay 1500 for a squalor apt downtown – use your heaad and then your eyes and look man – theres piles of places in dart/hali for under 700 a month in great places served well by metro – me thinks your just a lazy ass frog fucker from mtl that thinks he’s better then anyone else ( general mtl attitude ) so yea pack up dummy and leave we don’t need your kind anyways – hope the last #20 running up the hill drive right up your ass
Dino: I’m on the Darkside, just past Cole Harbour. I also have free parking, hardwood floors, knotty pine walls, propane stove and abundant lighting. It’s a real gem and I was lucky to find it on Kijiji.
Shiiit…
Never Wrong…
before long we’ll be neighbors.
I live in South End Halifax at the moment and pay $0 per month for rent, I just have to help out with groceries and taking the garbage down. The only problem is my roommate can be really annoying and overbearing, and also happens to be my mother. At least I don’t have a curfew anymore!
I used to live way down Caldwell Road near the Needs. I don’t own a car. Transit sucks when you live out there. Taxi’s in Cole Harbour are always a 20 to 30 minute wait. It sucks living out there.
Moved back here from Toronto a few years ago, should’ve seen the looks on my former coworkers’ faces when I showed them the layout of my 800sq ft. apt. in Cole Harbour for under $650 all in but cable and phone… Lived in a 400 sq ft. Victorian basement apt. with nothing included in TO for $800, and that was very cheap for the neighbourhood I was in…
They’ve made some changes to buses out CH way, I *could* tenchically live without my vehicle now, whereas about a year ago I had to have one because the schedules weren’t condusive to getting to and from work in less than 4 hours/day…
