I live across from the bottle exchange on Agricola St.

Every single morning they leave their trucks idling and idling, today it was from 6:15am to 6:40am.

Is it really necessary?

I work overnight and so when i try and go to bed around 6am, i have to put up with your trucks sitting idling for almost 40mins or longer every week day.

Its not cold out anymore so there is no need of warming the truck before you start driving.

And your wasting gas and polluting the air with your unnecessary idling.

Please show some respect the environment and local community.—No idling for a greener Agricola

  1. bed @ 6am?
again with the ‘earplugs’ from everyone….
or wrap your head in a blanket or towel so it’s nice and dark, that makes it easier.
or both… just do something about it. I used to sleep from 10am to 4:30 and couldn’t have lived without earplugs.

  2. Actually, idling can be really annoying — it’s the low “hum” sound that can drive a person nuts.

When I lived in Bumfuck, NS (a random valley town), the trucks delivering stuff to the grocery store two buildings over would arrive at 3 or 4 am for an 8am delivery and leave their trucks on. They were refridgerator trucks so it was understandable, but what wasn’t was the fact that there was a perfectly good place to park by the tourist bureau away from the residential area. The grocery store was surrounded by houses and a senior’s complex and it annoyed everyone. My dad was friends with the manager and he asked him to get them to stop — the manager told the guy to park elsewhere, but he wouldn’t. Since there are no noise by laws in this town because of the industry there by the water, the cops couldn’t do anything. And it bothered EVERYONE because my dad, being the social butterfly he is, was seemingly BFFs with everyone in the town and knew everything that was going on.

So, one night, when the guy was idling, my dad got up, whipped down to the grocery store and bitched the guy out. After that, we never had an issue with the trucks idling — they parked down by the tourist bureau until the store opened up.

So, I feel the OP’s pain. As well, some of us can’t use earplugs because we wouldn’t be able to hear our alarms. I sleep like a rock (I could sleep through a nuclear blast ffs), but it’s the falling asleep that I need quet for. And if I used earplugs I wouldn’t be able to hear my alarm clock. I already have to have it up on the highest radio volume, and even then sometimes I’ll sleep through it.

  3. wow, I certainly couldn’t fall into a kitty coma.

my phone on vibe still wakes me with ear plugs…
though I think we’ve already had the discussion on why.

you need some rube goldberg device to attach to the clock to wake you up…

  4. I hate the no idling commercial where the kid lectures the driver.

It’d be much funnier if the guy in the car looked at the kid sardonically and then rolled up the window on her.
