What is wrong with this city and transit users? In Montreal and Toronto you would get pushed in front of a bus for some of the shit riders in this city pull.
Ever hear of a queue? First arrive, first on… ladies and children first.
This is the most uncivilized city I’ve ridden a bus/train in; not surprising since proper manners are the exception.

I’m sorry, but if we’re pushing for equality here, why would gender matter at all? People with mobility issues or parents with children, I usually let them get on first.
Tall people should let shorter people on first. Many times the poor bus driver has closed doors on people because they were shorter than the person in front of them and were not seen until too late. Also it would be nice if men did allow women and children on first. Chivalry does not have to die. It can be rejuvenated, it only takes kindness and decency, and you will still get on the bus.
I generally just stand back and let the others cram themselves in. It’s not worth getting upset about, we’re all going to get where we’re going.
Right…because everyone is so polite in Toronto….and Montreal.
In Toronto the order of the day is . . . you snooze you lose. A moment’s hesitation and you will be shoved aside or climbed over by those behind. Unless forced to by TTC employees as when boarding a street car in a subway station there is no such concept as “queuing” here in the GTA.

People scramble onto the bus like its the last lifeboat of the titanic because the transit system is so useless. Its anyone’s guess when the next bus will come. Early,late, never. Its all a gamble.
The elderly, disabled and mothers of infants and small children already have preferential seating. As for the rest of us, can we not at least pretend to be adults and queue in orderly fashion regardless of our perceived special snowflake demographic identities. The bus stop is a precursor for transportation, not sexual intercourse (or even romance), thus rendering any and all chivalry meaningless.

Glad you found the time to like your own thought. Perhaps your intellect and attitude can account for the lack of chivalry in your life.
OB what you are asking, not totally unreasonably, is for a city of selfish fucking assholes to abide by an orderly, respectful way of operating. it just wont happen. Ever see the grocery store checkouts(gateway is the worst) and you can just see the way society is. Ever try to park in a parking lot prior to, or during a holiday? you see the true nature of people then. People just dont give a fuck about anyone but themselves. granted there are exceptions. Waiting for that exception to happen will be a long time though. Just dont be a ceaseless striver…it will shorten your lifespan trying to get people to be civil.
