I have been reading the Bitch section and I actually agree with a lot of the Bitches. My Bitch is to the people who cannot spell properly and do not know how to use proper grammar. Posting a valid Bitch with misspelled words and no punctuation makes you look ignorant and uneducated. And you do not need a post secondary degree in order to know how to use the English language.

See i disagreejust because i have bad grammer does not mean that i am ignorant or uneducated. When bitches have mispelt words i do not think nothing of it, i find the main problem on the coast bitches is people like you. There are so many arguments about spelling mistakes but in reality who gives a fuck?

Jane, I hope your posting was supposed to be ironic or something.It’s about first impressions; if I read something that’s very poorly written or spelled, my impression of the person that wrote it is that they can’t have any idea what they’re talking about. So even if they have something intelligent to say, it matters less because they come across as an idiot.Besides that. it’s harder to read and make sense of it. It’s easier to be understood if you post something reasonably close to proper English. cause readin somtin ritten like dis makes me ead hurt.

Jane – the people who get angry and don’t think about what they’re doing or typing are not the brightest bulbs in the bunch. When you don’t take the time to calm down when you’re angry, you end up saying or doing things that are stupid. An argument or Bitch that is well thought out and presented is much more effective. Not taking the time to much sure your point is going to be understood makes you ignorant. Which I found out myself in the first bitch I made, when I didn’t make my point perfectly clear. =)

i just think its stupid its an online fourm for people to vent but it is getting out of hand with the grammer issues i am smart but not the best speller but calling me ignorant and less intelligent!I understand if you are typing like “dis dat tha” not OK but if you misspell a word you shouldnt be ridiculed about it
I can swing both ways here…one of my biggest pet peves is the improper use of words like to, too, two… drives me nuts….we learn that shit in, what? Grade 2? But, I’ve also made the argument on previous similar bitches that maybe some of these bad spellers have a mother tounge of a different language (maybe English is their 2nd or 3rd language), which really could make them much more intelligent than some of you who feel the need to call people out for being ignorant or having low IQ’s or whatever.However, the prime example of not getting your point across is a bitch titled “Tag, you it” …check it out….WTF is this guy trying to say?
Hey Jane, look on your keyboard corners and find the keys marked CTRL. Then look above them at the keys labeled SHIFT. If you press them while pressing a letter key, it will Capitalize it. That’s not even grammar, that’s simple typing skillz.Shit like not knowing the difference between two, too, and to, or there, their or they’re, aren’t exactly the hallmarks of not being a dumbass. And most people I know that have english as a second or third language actually have better grammar/spelling than most native speakers.
Pete’s right. Second-language learners tend to be very precise and in tune with all the formal rules of the language.And Jane – some of the run-on sentences ARE difficult to parse. You have to look at the some sentences two or three times to figure out what the person was trying to write. Good punctuation and syntax DO make a message more clear.
My first 8 years of school were in a different language and for a long time (still do sometimes) I had difficulty remembering spellings of words, but you’re right, I still have better grammar and spelling than a lot of people who were schooled in English their whole lives.
No one is suggesting that event the most diligent writers don’t make the odd spelling mistake or grammatical error. But a blatant disregard for proper spelling and grammar speaks somewhat to a person’s credibility.
This is an internet forum, not a scholarly journal. No one expects perfect spelling and grammar. However, if you go to the effort of writing a bitch, presumably you want people to read it. Maybe you even want feedback. People who write with complete disregard for the conventions of spelling and grammar must think that what they have to say is so scintillating that complete strangers will slog through their incoherent screed trying to figure out what it means. If your thoughts are not important enough for you to make an attempt to articulate them clearly, then they’re not important enough for me to read.You call me a snob, or an elitist, or what have you. If you don’t know the difference between there, their, and they’re, if you’re too lazy to use the shift key, if you have no idea where to place a period, I will NOT take you seriously.
I think it’s important to check spelling and grammar in these forums just to be consistent. I hope those who ignore such rules here don’t do the same when it comes to writing important letters, resumes etc.But I make mistakes, and it’s usually just because of my lacklustre typing skills. Busy becomes busty … may becomes amy … easy to do really.
I am generally a good speller, but from other posts and comments I have seen on grammar and spelling, I always make sure to have http://www.webster.com up… JUST IN CASE!;) The Coast is making me smarter!
Who cares really, if you can understand what the person is saying, it doesn’t need to be perfect, its not like they’re writing an article, it shouldn’t matter, this is a forum and I’m sick of reading these stupid bitches. Get over it and move on there are way better things to complain about lol.
I learned in grade 1 that using ‘And’ as the first word in a sentence, is just lazy grammar. So practice what you preach.fuckin nazi
Ultimately, writing is about communicating ideas right? Certainly if you dot your i’s and cross your t’s you are going to have a better time conveying your ideas. But the odd grammatical error won’t hide a good idea, nor will perfect grammar turn dumb ideas into insightful comments. This is like the bitch about regional colloquialisms. Wisdom and insight do not depend on formal language or even formal education. Some of the wisest ideas about ethics, politics and morality I have encountered come from hard-working life-experienced farmers and fishermen from rural Nova Scotia without high school diplomas. It would be a shame if people dismissed what these fellers have to say, just because their idears ain’t said the way you are used to.
