U2 has to be make a stop somewhere along the East Coast considering the closest stop currently is Montreal… On the bands U2 360 tour website, a huge gap exists between July 19th to the beginning of August. Considering they will be on tour (U2), and the BEP’s who are playing Halifax will also be on tour at that time, I wouldn’t count this rumour out.
Personally I could care less if they played here or didn’t play here. I view U2 as sellouts who gain from any current environmental or human rights movement currently happening in the world. They share in the same interests as Al Gore, scaring the world with propaganda and benefiting over someone else’s misfortune.
To end… I also believe the whole environment and global warming phenom is nothing more then bullshit. As a huge U2 fan who keeps up on the band way too much, they will NOT be coming. For a variety of reasons: set is huge and difficult to ship, the commons actually isn’t big enough or appropriate for this tour, and they have already said through tour emailings that the tour dates are set. Tickets for the Montreal concert on the 16th of July were sold back in October. They plan WAAAAY in advance. And also, they never do concert “events” where it’s an all day concert or weekend event. So anyway, sorry about being a crazy U2 fan, but I just wanted to squash this rumour.
Ah yes, U2 and Bono, the enviromentalist. Just how much energy do these bands use up in a day or two? Let’s look at it. Aircraft fuel to get them place to place along with buses, tractor trailers to haul the gear. The electricity required to put on performances. Now exactly how big is that carbon footprint?
