It’s a long shot that the delivery guy who made my day is going to read this, but the exercise is fun so here it goes. You come to the loading bay of the company I work for, throw the dozen or so parcels on the ramp of the loading dock and, after I throw down a couple of pallets you ask “Aren’t you going to help me?”
Help you what? Do your job? Are you going to share your salary with me? Are you going to help me receive and distribute the garbage you just delivered? Then you say “Well, the other guy helps me.” Good for him. That’s his choice; not your entitlement. Getting pissy and throwing around the cartons after I explained my version of job-sharing—you unload them, I’ll sign for them—was just the foam on the beer. You may be forcing Canada Post out of business, it doesn’t give you license to cop a CUPW attitude. Thank you. Come again. -The Nice Guy

Kick him in the box.
our delivery people are awesome
I pretty much always help my delivery guys when they’re dropping stuff off, it goes a long way as they end up helping me when picking stuff up….
Let me guess, you’re in a UNION?
If you help the driver unload and something was damaged before it was unloaded the driver could just claim that it was a carton that you unloaded and that’s when the damage happened and your company is s.o.l. on getting compensated for any damage.
I think we need a truly impartial vote on this, where’s Joan Jettison when you really need her?
Maybe they were delivering boxes of Kleenex to help when she was blubbering about the vote smack down?
I wonder, when Joan goes shopping and gets her hair done, does she carry around a pic of Johnny Sacks’ wife from the Sopranos as a reference?
I wouldn’t mind working in that loading dock. In my past experience it was always myself hauling out the pallets with the pallet jack while the driver just stood there watching me.

If you help unload an order and it turns out something is damaged you are not SOL. That’s the stupidest thing I’ve read so far this morning.
I always help the guys that deliver where I work…unless they think that means they can take a break while I unload their truck for them. In which case, I just stop and chat with them for a bit. I am paid by the hour and don’t have to take deliveries after 4. They’re in more of a hurry than I am 🙂
