Yesterday I was in the unfortunate situation of having to travel from the Halifax Shopping Ctentre to Home in Dartmouth during rush hour.

How do you people do this everyday? The fucking idiocy of drivers is astounding!!! Sit back and enjoy two bitches from my travels home.

1) Trying to turn left from Bayers onto Connaught: why do drivers feel it’s ok to block the intersection when travelling outbound? You can’t get any further than the cars stopped at the far side of the int., so why not let some cars turn?? Are you that much of an idiot you can’t see the driver right beside you wanting to turn as you sit there blocking the way?????

2) The MacKay Bridge: I have to wait my turn in traffic in the correct lane, why can’t you? How many times did I see cars stop on the Barrington Street lane, totally holding up all the good people behind them, as they vainly try to poke into a full line of stopped traffic. At least have a bit of respect and go to he far end of the lane, then cars can get by you. You still might be an asshole trying to cut into the line, but you’re not going to force a lane of very busy traffic to stop, backing traffic up even more because you’re too much of a fuck to get into your correct lane and wait with the rest of us.

Thank cripes I don’t have to do this every day.

Morons……

  1. Probably didn’t help that there was an accident in that area yesterday. The MacKay usually isn’t that bad, but the Bayers/Connaught thing is a different story.

  2. Bitch 2- The people i get angry at the most are the ones who let the line cutters in, grow a pair and refuse to let them do it, ride the bumper of the guy in front of you.Its fucking hilarious to see Line cutters lose their minds when at least 2-3 cars not let them in.

  3. I have actually seen the HRP and Bridge Police near the end of the lane where people would cut in and telling them not to stop and to keep going towards Barrington – it certianly was a WIN moment for those of us who know how to drive properly.

On the plus side, consider yourself lucky you don’t live here in Toronto. Not a day goes by that I dont lay on the horn. And people are shocked here when you obey traffic rules.

  4. Just up from where the Bayers/Connaught intersection , heading outbound is where the turn into that mall intersection is. Maybe it’s because Bobo the Chimpanze (also know as the traffic management for HRM) is in charge of the roads, lights etc. in the HRM, that this hasn’t been tried! But if they shut that enterance/exit off, got rid of it completely over half of that areas traffic problems would be solved.
Let traffic come in from the other end (to that mall)where it does now. Its a minor re-route of buses, & those lights there would also be gone…might solve enough of the trafic jams twice a day to possibly allow an about-face on widening Bayers road !

  5. I had to make the trek over to the darkside yesterday at rush hour….I don’t think I’ve ever had as much anxiety as I had then. One nice thing was all the traffic was going towards the bedford highway on the fairview overpass, but damn. And people kept braking suddenly in front of me on the mackay. it sucked.

I knew I used the bus to commute for a reason *shudder*

  6. A year or so ago, I used to own a car with no guts but I just recently bought a new one with more power so what I love to do is be at the front on the line at the end of Windsor St heading to the MacKay (in the correct lane). Eventually, some impatient fucker will come up next to me in the left lane, and then when the light goes green, I ride alongside them so they cant cut in. Makes my day…

  7. More— I remember your suggestion being suggested a number of years ago, and it was shot down because HSC’s owners complained that it would close their “main” entrance. Also, it wouldn’t be a “minor” detour for buses. In rush hour, it adds an extra 10 minutes to the route (either up Connaught or along Joe Howe) and that’s if the traffic is flowing. That said, the Mackay is fucked at the best of times… I don’t understand why anyone would use it. I’ve seen people use the Macdonald and get to where they need to be faster.
