I am so tired of watching women being raped, tortured & murdered on the many many cop shows that litter prime time television. What is wrong with people? Lovers of these televsion shows, how can you justify watching women being tortured for entertainme

Was there a contract signed between ‘drop everything’, and ‘last minute’? I dont think so, therefore the fault falls on the wannabee extras.. It’s unfortunate but hopefully they wont put all thier eggs in one basket next time.
Boo Hoo…I agree with Shoe. Stop whinning and don’t be so stupid to entrust in any type of “gaurantee” on a job with no back up? That’s just dumb. Sucker born every minute.
So, Shoe and Suck, let me get this straight — films can call for extras, send emails that say to make yourself available for 6 weeks because you have been chosen for the job and then cancel at the last minute, and you don’t think there’s a problem with that?
This is a section from the original email: “The most important detail for us to know is your availability. You must be 100% free and available to work from mid-late Oct. to mid Dec. Unfortunately we will not be able to make accommodations to those with part time jobs, or school.”
If that is indeed original text from the original e-mail…they ask about your availability to ensure that you would be available for those 6 weeks of filming. Sounds to me like if you wanted to be part of the movie, then you had to make yourself available. As an EXTRA, you’re expendable. If you wanted to be an EXTRA that badly, then you’d brush this off. You’re not the star. I agree with the first few readers…suck it up.
Here’s my final attempt at getting people to understand why someone might feel cheated by being treated so cavalierly by a big film company. It has nothing to do with thinking one is a “star’, it has to do with basic decency and good business practices. What follows is a copy of an email recieved by all successful applicants. It acknowledges that people have had to rearrange their lives. It warns that numbers have been cut so that people might not work every day of the supposed six weeks, BUT AT NO TIME DOES IT MENTION THAT A PERSON MIGHT GET A CALL RIGHT BEFORE THE START DATE LETTING THEM GO.Is it so hard to see that this is not a humane way to treat people, extras or not?Hello Viking Villagers!!! First off thanks to all of you for taking part and rearranging your lives to be a Viking in the feature film OUTLANDER.You should check your email regularly as I will be sending out updates when I have them. Please note I will be in touch with you a few days prior to your first day of filming to give you a heads up. I wont leave it till the last minute. Here is the latest updated information in regards to the Outlander film. You have all been chosen as Viking Villagers. Wardrobe fittings have been put on hold. I will let you know if this changes. There will be two units which means that you will be used as Background for two camera crews which will allow more opportunities for everyone. The original number of people that we needed has been cut in half so we are going to get as many of you on set for as many days as possible. This means that the numbers of days you will be needed could go up or down. I realize this is different than what was originally mentioned. This change is a result of the other changes happening with this production.
Get a life and a real job…Work as an extra is not a guaranteed paycheck. If you have kids to support get your ass to Burger King.
