There was a news report warning people about a specific company (they had like 6-7 complaints filed with the BBB) but I cant remember the name of the loser company. Apparently they do this on a very regular basis (AAA Movers…or something like that) Oh and if that is the right company name…you can go ahead and try to sue me for “defamation” because I would love to get a good look at the owners face so I could spit on it later in the street. If it is not then sorry to AAA movers but I am fairly certain about the name.
The name of the company is “Reasonable Trucking”I submitted this bitch, and the man that I was referring to is named Gordon Drysdale. The ‘submit your bitch’ criteria clearly states that no specific names are to be used, so I tried my best to imply the name (hence the repeated references to “Unreasonable” people.)

Brendan I just read your facebook entry. We were having just about the same problems when we moved from Pennsylvania to Hfx. 4 yrs. ago. I gave the shyster mover 1 break with excuses. When I called and he started up with yet another excuse, I hung up in his ear and called a reputable mover. Allied Van Lines charged us $2,400.USD for a complete move including packing and unpacking and all boxes. We were delayed for 4 days at the border (long weekend) because of a glitch with the paperwork (visa) which is not unusual when dealing with border critters. Allied said no problem. When we arrived in Hfx. the van was parked at the end of the parking lot with a security lock in tact – needed a card key to open. We called and told them we arrived and within an hour 4 guys showed up and moved all our stuff inside – including transferring our clothes to closets and drawers and all our dishes into the cupboards. They were done and out of there in an hour. Unfortunately Brendan there are no bargains out there. You get what you pay for. You were smart not to let that guy drive away with your belongings. At least you didn’t get totally ripped off. I was ripped off very badly when I was younger and just out of college by a crafty salesman. It almost put me on the streets. I don’t trust what anyone says anymore in sales. The next guy that tries to sell you a bill of goods better get up early in the morning to get past you eh? :). bj, thanks for your story. W5 did a piece on fradulent movers last year (I think) – if it’s still on the website it’s definitely worth a look.And FYI to anyone doing a move – don’t tell the movers that you’ll do your own unpack. If you do, you’re out of luck if there’s damage.

And I thought I was the only one. Not so. I was moving from Toronto to Halifax and found the cheapest company available. They arrived four days late in Toronto to pick up my stuff, drove a tracter trailer (the cab of which is marked “reasonable trucking” and the actual trailer “Halifax, NS” and their phone number) downtown on small residential streets, completely blocking them. I witnessed them break some other peoples furniture, but at that point just thoughtof them as jokers. The other guy with the driver, says to me, “so you like the trailer park boys, eh?” I say, “yes.” He says, “well we used to do that stuff for free.”When I arrive in Halifax they agree to promptly meet me with my stuff. After their initial delay and subsequent demonstration of incompetence, I phoned them multiple times a day and made sure they realized that I was not screwing aroudn and that I needed my stuff on time. The original deal was 1,000 lbs. of furniture for $1,000, and I was positive I had under 1,000 lbs. (or at least just about that) of stuff. They arrived and refused to unload my stuff without getting paid for moving 2,500. lbs. I heartily objected as there was no way my belonging weighed that much. Then they went down to 2,000 lbs. I informed them that this was not a negotiation, but a rather scientific measurement of the actual weight of the stuff. We asked to see the weigh tickets. They had none. A confrontation ensued, and we threatened to call the cops. Without going into all the details, we ended up paying for a little over 1200 lbs., and had to move everything in ourselves. Beware, these guys “reasonable trucking” are complete scam artists!
