What is with all the millennial bashing? Sheesh. I think I’m a millennial by a year or two (1984?).
When I was learning to be a corporate trainer they broke down personality types by generation. Baby boomers were described as “having come from a time when hard work was valued and having superior work ethic” while millennials were described as “having a shorter time in the work force, resistant to change and requiring more guidance.” Bullshit. The baby boomers I taught were the most entitled, confused, bunch of people who thought they were too good to be doing the job they were hired for, while the younger people caught on quickest, stayed in the job longer, and understood how difficult it is in this city to lock down gainful employment.
Not every young person believes they’re a special snow flake and chants SJW power words at every opportunity. These people are the vocal minority who have their voice amplified by publications like the coast, websites like Buzzfeed and social media.
Everything started falling apart when they took the strap out of the school system. The rest is history.

I think half my generation and half the baby boomers are useless drone morons, who can’t do anything without being taught…. Can’t fix anything, can’t take care of anything and are just useless, How do I nicely explain to a coworker, why I drive a decent car and he takes the bus… “Your so lucky” No I shop at the thrift store, and the cars old and well maintained…. I know how to fix things, I hung out with my grandma and shopped yard sales and flea markets, I’m not “Lucky” I work hard and manage my money like my grandparents taught me to… Just the other day I had a boomer put me down to some kid about how I didn’t go to school and that I can’t afford a real car because of it… I laughed…. I have lots of boomer friends who make him look like nothing…. I find dealing with the 60 year old boomers making 25 an hour who are always miserable and crabby just as annoying as their dumb ass children… while I enjoy the boomers like the guy I knew collecting old BBQs off the side of the road for money, yet makes 120k a year and has a paid for $600,000 house…. and their 2001 No rust properly maintained Toyota Corolla driving daughter….with the kijji iPhone on month to month and her thrift shop jacket…. Never paint them all with the same brush, although the asshole half of the boomer generation did come before the asshole half of the millennial children….Now I’m gonna go hang out with one of my 60 year old friends, he’ll bitch about his generation, I’ll bitch about mine, I’ll play Fleetwood Mac, He’ll admit Justin Biebers a good kid usually… All good…

I would like to respond to a few things, Jay Aaron Roy, OB has his points. But because you don’t agree with him, you demand censorship. News flash…unless it is anything to do with factual countering of feminist claims or use words to describe a female anatomy, there is no real censorship here. The demand for censorship is very Millennial. “HURT MY FEELINGS, FEAR MY ONLINE WRATH!!”
Okay, next. OB, whereas I don’t doubt that there are many issues surrounding entitlement, work ethic, general cry-baby whining of the millenials, it goes without saying that there are also a lot of that going on in Gen X’ers, Gen Y’ers(my gen), baby boomers etc. It is a general observation that there are just a LOT of assholes out there in the work place and in life as a whole.
What I have seen, is that there are many many idiots in the work place. Some, no matter how much I put in to aid them by training, coaching, advising etc…are just a lost cause. Many more are this way than the other group, which I particularly enjoy…the ones that have an open mind, are willing to learn from someone with experience and apply themselves judiciously to get ahead. Those are the type I love. and ive seen it in boomers, X, Y and millenials.
None of this justifies the overall behaviours of either group though. Crying and whining about feelings…when a job needs to get done…good…go cry in a corner while the others work hard. It will be reflected in your yearly review. I have ALWAYS kept detailed notes on anyone under my supervision. notes KILL whiners. dates, times, behaviours, what was said etc. that saves a supervisors ass at ANY investigation.
