There are customers who are a joy to serve, really. They are friendly, self-aware, good tipping, happy individuals who live their lives in the moment and love the time they spend eating out. There are customers who don’t really stand out at all and they are cool too I suppose. But then, aaaah yes, you have the others… the ones who are soooo self-obsessed… so unhappy with their own lives that they will treat waitstaff like shit as if they are the only thing that matters at that moment. They are entitled, they are rude, they are miserable ignorant fools. How you treat each human being means a lot about who you are. 1. “Be aware of those who are serving you… it’s a two way street.” Slightly Jaded

You don’t do anything nasty in the salad dressing, do you?

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

    P.S. A New Avatar!

  2. Let’s hope Karma has a way of biting them on the ass. Waitressing is hard work and the pay isn’t the best. Shame on those shitheads who think they are so high up. I hope they get the opportunity someday to be a waitress, then they will find out how fun it is to serve assholes.

  3. …this week I had 3 celiacs and a lactose int. in a dining room of about 20 peeps…the chances of this happening legit is like…idk .01 %..pleeze needy people deal with your issues ..nobody is impressed

  4. Ya don’t see too many gluten-free menus out there.
I’m pretty sure I’d be a hermit if I were lactose intolerant.
I’d have to be because there’s no way I’m giving up cheese and milk.

  5. some people who are (or who feel they are) powerless in their own lives take the opportunity to bully anyone they come across in any service industry. part of the ‘entitled’ gene. if they are buying a pack of gum in a convenience store they can harass the clerk because they are the mucketey muck customer. they feel even better when they can loudly criticize a server in front of other customers. like OP says, there are different kinds of customers…the neutral, just having a meal and in their own space & time. then the subhumans who enjoy bullying and hounding and harassing and being as difficult as possible. then people who get a genuinely pleased ‘hello’ when they come back.

  6. Unfortunately this is an industry where you will always have people that act like self entitled twats. Lucky for most of us, its a very small percentage. Try not to judge OP, you don’t know whats going on with those people. Maybe some of them are really dicks. I think most, do not realize the grief they cause. I myself work in a busy downtown restaurant and realize how one dickwad can ruin your whole night. Don’t let it get to you. Most people are genuinely good.

  7. i find as i grow older and perhaps some meno, i just point and laugh at people. they usually have no idea why, but it makes me feel better

  8. i really think that everyone should try the shitiest jobs in the world, at least once. just so they would know how the other parties would feel.

  9. I’ve waited tables and I agree with the person who said “subhuman”. That’s a good description for some customers.

  10. Even when I’m at a restaurant or fast food place and they fuck up my order I do my best to still be nice. I would be so ashamed to act like an asshole in a public place like that.

If I ever have a real issue it’s usually the kitchen’s fault, not the wait staff, and I politely ask to speak to the manager, I’ve been given discounts as large as %50 and they’re happy to do it.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a waiter or clerk be rude to me. If they were I wouldn’t be above getting snippy with them but most waiters or waitresses try SO HARD to be nice and cheery all the time, to be a dick to them just seems so wrong.

Anyways OP I hope you don’t have to wait tables forever, I always say the best way to figure out what you want to do is to first figure out what you don’t wanna do.

  11. Hey, a server bitch that’s not about tipping. Neato.
(gotta say, I’m surprised it hasn’t already been mentioned)

  12. Shut up, Wheels. You fucking hypocrite!!! I suppose your 6 week strike was about making sure the public maximizes their transit dollars. Douchebag!!!
