Putting non-recyclable garbage in a blue bag won’t get it picked up on recycling day. Please don’t leave it lying there for weeks with the orange “rejected” sticker — take it inside and put it in a proper trash bag. Mom and dad can’t do it for you all the way from Ontario. —Grow some brain cells

Doesn’t the city fine households that put out bags with rejection stickers on them?
shit, they can’t go to college and have any brains too, o.p. that’s way too fucken hard a task to do.
I agree with the student comment, in regards to having book smarts with a severe lacking common sense. Does make me wonder how they ever found an apartment and moved here. However, the city can be ridiculous on garbage pick up, thank goodness they don’t fine you! I have had my share of rejected refuse. With three apartments and two business underneath, one would think 6 bags for everyone would not apply…Maybe he was new to the block.
Hehe, Ontario.
you aren’t fined but if your garbage is out when it’s not for collection (like in the two weeks between pickup), you’ll get a notice telling you to remove it. If you don’t, the city will take it and send you a bill.

OP here — thanks for the tip funnygirl. Unfortunately as I passed by the other day I threw all the bags into their backyard (where they will surely fossilize), but now I know for next time!
Edmonton has now over-taken Halifax as North America’s leading waste manager, with a new, one of a kind, state of the art garbage sorting machine. There are no separate recycling, compost, or garbage containers in Edmonton because we don’t need them! The magical garbage sorting machine does all that for us and turns the by-product into flowers and double rainbows.
