It was hard enough to find myself running out of a burning apartment building New Year’s Eve because of a fire that started in the apartment of my idiot neighbor, and consequently burned all of our apartments. But then when I went back to sift through the rubble, many things had been looted through, like DVD’s and CDs. I hope they ruin ALL your equipment, and don’t forget, Karma can be a real bitch. Fuckers.

  1. did you write two bitches?

anyhoo, there was a fire alarm in the building we spent new years in as well….
all I could do was grab a slice of pizza and head on out.

  2. hmmmmmmm

who gives a shit if the OP wrote 2000000 fucking bitches?

and wow insurance just fixes everything like a magic wand of healing!!???

“responsible” people get insurance…so if you didn’t or couldn’t well then it’s your fault….not the ass who created the fire??

    fucking dumb ass

I mean really who packs things so neatly into a box of perfection??? life and people are not perfect.

    problem+solution= no problem…so move on
or maybe….. according to some…… we could just be perfect robots and never have to vent…there i just solved all of the fucking problems of the world….amazing

  3. Everyone is responsible for themselves. If you didn’t get insurance, you weren’t responsible for yourself. And this is coming from a person that ran outside of a burning house saying “Oh Fuck, everything is going to be gone”.

I was a lot younger at the time, and it was the neighbors fault, but it was me who chose not to be insured.

And for the record, I think that if you don’t have Tenant’s insurance and you are responsible for starting the fire, then you are responsible for the damages done to the apartment building. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Makes you think twice about the insurance eh?

  4. Only to the maximum of your tenant insurance Fallenangel . Its the owners insurance that covers the building in general ( walls floors – building and outside . ). It would be either the owner or tenant that can sue you ( and your insurance company ) for recoverable damage if fault was deemed non accidental .

But yea – let me tell OP that most likely the first response company from the owners building insurance contractor , was most likely the looters . They are the first in a building after a fire – flood and what have you . I can almost tell you that with complete confidence .Its pretty rare a oft passerby will get the chance to loots the building – but the restoration / disaster response people sure can .

All in all – still shitty .

  5. Certainly not an insurance agent , but I have worked in that industry ( on rebuilds and structure supports ) and have a fair idea . I do also know that tenants insurance under normal circumstance only covers the contents . It does not cover structure . I’m not sure how it would work if someone got sued . But I know one insurance company pays out the other . Then the insurance company goes after the responsible party .

  6. hog, I’m POSITIVE firemen and insurance adjusters don’t give a FLYING FUCK about a DVD collection. PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS FOR ONCE and place blame squarely on the building owner for not ensuring its security while tenants were locked out by authorities. Accident or not the victims of looting have a right to sue for damages… you’re a fucking idiot hog. You should seriously stop talking out the side of your head or people might think you have the capacity to drive a truck and that’s about it.

  7. That sucks…Both posts that is.

Even if you have Tenants insurance, who wants to deal with that crap. I hate dealing with insurance companies.

  8. Turns out the person who is responsible for the fire, and stored the gas in his apartment is considered somewhat of an indigent who is not worth suing for his contribution to the fire because there would be no opportunity for payout. So as far as I’ve heard, the case has been dropped, end of story. Some say the building owner should shoulder some of the responsibility for not acting on the information that chemical smells were reported. Hard to say. One of the former neighbors painted the basement and that smell toxified the works of us for a few days. Maybe that’s what he smelled. All I know is that I was lucky to get out with my life and am grateful for that.

  9. And yes, I did write two bitches. I was angry about both things. I wasn’t aware there was a limit here….there certainly isn’t a limit on comments…

And yes, I had tenant insurance that has since been paid out. All insurance companies are not evil…
