So we’re not paid on time again? Really? Even after you shifted our pay period permanently to a DAY EARLIER? Why is it every fucking time there’s a holiday, here or elsewhere(this time around is apparently the fault of the “Family Day” in Ontario), do we get fucking screwed, usually without notice.
I spent all afternoon calling to tell my phone company, my student loan officer and various other bills to tell them YUP LATE AGAIN, and scrambling to prevent NSF charges. I’m sure everyone else at work had the same amount of fun. I’m tired of trying to keep a full set of bill money in my account in case of your fuckups and scrambling when I can’t afford that damned buffer.
You are possibly the worst waste of space employee in the whole fucking establishment. You’re snarky to other employees, you can’t answer ANY question with certainty OR tell us why you can’t get off your lazy ass to PAY US ON TIME(I won’t even get started on your edict of having our vacation pay on a separate cheque being impossible). It’s not because of fucking commission, it’s not the fucking holidays. How do I know? The last accountant never paid us fucking late, and nobody else I know in ANY OTHER similar/different industry puts up with it. IT’S YOU AND WE KNOW IT.

Complain to their supervisor? Complain to the higher ups? Keep complaining until they fix the problem? Refuse to come in until you’re paid (if you are able, if you don’t have any pull with the org. they might just can you)?
Be an asshole about it. Not being paid on the agreed upon date of payment is unacceptable.
It’s an unfortunate situation, sounds like the OP is employed by a smaller business, and by cheque no less. Bug your employer to get direct deposit. They bypass that whole issue of issuing cheques and thereby avoiding delays because the payroll company pays you and your employer pays the payroll company. Just a suggestion.
I’m the OP. We are on direct debit, believe it or not, (and all of this has been going on with employee complaints for 2 years, higher ups know, don’t give two craps. They like the accountant, apparently). Irregardless of that, if there’s a holiday the week we get paid, BLAMMO no deposit until a day later. I’m so close to my cheese sliding off my cracker on this it’s not funny.
Pretty: I’m looking for new work so I’m trying not to rock the boat until I secure it, but believe you and me, that WILL be highlighted when I give my notice.
Sorry to hear that dude, good luck finding a job! That’s the first time that I’ve heard of an arrangement like that. At the very least they could provide advance notice that your pay would be late.
A holiday shouldn’t hold up your pay. If your pay is scheduled to go in on a holiday most organizations will pay you a day early. Your whole situation sucks! Best of luck finding a new job. You deserve it after that kind of crap in your current one.
This happens in my place of work all the time around November/December (year end). Whomever is doing the deposits forgets that we are given our bonuses seperately from our regular pay. But no, he doesn’t lump them in with our pay, that would be fine. He forgets to do it, so we don’t get our bonus money until mid Feb.
Nova Scotia labour law states that employee must be paid within 5 days after the end of the pay period.
