I saw a job the other day – looking for an experienced lawyer – paying 55k a year. No one who spends 6+ years in university with additional career experience should have to work for 55k a year, yet the hiring manager told me they had more than a dozen qualified candidates apply. WTF..
PS. After taxes and deductions you are lucky if 55k a year clears $1,300 bi-weekly. Try raising two kids on that shit.

Government worker here. Non unionized. Parents were government workers which left me unqualified for student assistance, post secondary. 3 jobs to pay for school, a shitty car, and to live. Worked my ass off in fact and even when appendix burst, was back to work before the staples were out. Worked my ass off to EARN a wage(within reasonable reach of unionized employee level) to support family and assist friends as well. Now, what you should be upset about is taxpayers money going to pay for people to have degrees that are useless, that can never be repayed etc. Your impression of what hard work is, is probably NOT in the same league as to what I believe is hard work. This is often the same thing I experience with younger generations now who complain about work-life ratio. I can’t tell you how many Christmases I missed with family due to my work, yet ask a person these days to stay late to finish work or work on a weekend! You can imagine the shock and horror these pretty snowflakes experience.
