You left me on the brink of tears today. “There are a lot of cruel people in the world and I think you’re one of them” were your words. I was being sincere with you and you were thoughtless and rude toward me. Yes, I do wish I could have helped you. Do you think I make the rules? I am simply a lowly employee paid to enforce the rules. I was doing my job. Have some manners toward your fellow human beings; I love cats just as much as anyone and I am anything but cruel. I am far too sensitive a person for some of the shit I deal with from thoughtless people like you.

  1. As far as I’m concerned you find a kitten in a dumpster, it’s your own responsibility…trying to fucking pawn it off on someone else, unless it’s the SPCA, is weak.

  2. I’ll never understand why people “rescue” a kitten from a dumpster, but they run away from a rat they see there !
They’re both right up there beside Swine Flu, on my list of what I want nothing to do with.
Don’t bother worrying about it, since you’ve posted this hundreds more kittens have been born & many are also unwanted .

  3. LOL…said the mole rat…. but I think the rat chooses to be there…. is the dumpster not one of its preferred clubs….

  4. Grow a spine OP. “I a simply a lowly employee paid to enforce the rules” is a pathetic crutch that people too weak to do the right thing use. If you were in any way responsible for that kitten ending up in the dumpster you are a cruel, disgusting, heartless human being and you should be ashamed of yourself. If someone called you on on it and hurt your “sensitive” feelings, you deserved it. I also hope the person who found the kitten reports your place of employment to the authorities.

  5. Jai, I rather suspect the person who found the kitten had asked the employee to take responsibility for it so they could go on about their day. I don’t think the employee put it there. I can’t blame the employee for not wanting to have to add “finding lost kitten a home” to her To Do list for the day. I would have given the lady the number for the SPCA and that’s about as much customer service the lady should have received. The kitten might have just been a stray too, rather than been tossed in there by some dipshit.

  6. The OP might actually work at the SPCA. I was at the SPCA last year and there was a woman in there crying because the SPCA would not take these two cats she had found in a box on the street. They said they had no room for them. The woman was sooo upset because she couldn’t keep them and didn’t know what else to do. What other options would she have?

  7. Her options would be to either bring the cats home with her or abandon them. I love cats too, but if she couldn’t do anything about it and neither could they, well, that’s “the way she goes.” Would she prefer they take every unwanted cat so eventually they’re all living in overcrowded, shitty cages and starving? If someone’s upset with the long waiting list, they should volunteer their labour, donate money, or lobby politicians for more funding. The SPCA is there to help as many animals as possible, period – not to make people feel better OMGrightaway.
FYI some vet clinics take abandoned kitties so that they can neuter/innoculate and sell them.

  8. The Bide Awhile Shelter in Dartmouth is another option when the SPCA can’t take the animal. Also there are plenty of vets that will help out animals in need.
