I sometimes doubt you, I will admit. But you always seem to bounce back. I hope you continue to do so. I hear rumours of us humans moving to a different planet. I don’t want to lose you; please heal and continue to support me with your trees breathing air into my lungs and the sweet, smooth, clean water you provide for me. You have mountain ranges covered in snow and beautiful animals and forests to run through and oceans and lakes to swim in, and you are just ever so lovely. I love you, Earth. —Shameless Pollyanna and Treehugger

  1. We’re not moving any other planet anytime soon. What planet would we go to? Mars? One big red beach with no surf. Venus? A surface temperature set on broil. Titan? (Yeah I know it’s a moon) Noontime temperatures of about -500 degress fahrenheit. Rivers and lakes of ethane. No we’re stuck here and Earth will keep on trucking well after we have come and gone. What we do to the biosphere in the meantime is the issue.
The fact that we depend on the health of the biosphere for our very existence and we have one Earth Day a year doesn’t get me all optimistic.
