Telling you that you’re not allowed to have fire in your performance when you’re performing on a WOODEN structure like the boardwalk is not a fucking “joke”, it’s common sense! What, do you want the entire thing to go up in flames? You know what IS a joke? You, a supposed grown man, bitching about this rule to an entire croud of people like a bratty three year old. It’s a good rule, and it makes sense. If you don’t like it, feel free to fuck off. I’m sure there are more that plenty of people who would take your place. —Fire safety’s no joke, son.

So the organizers, city, waterfront and their respective insurance companies who have no problem are all jokes? Maybe watch the show or don’t go?

So you think the organizers are unaware of his act (and there have been fire performers since its inception)? If you also looked you would find that fire performers have to have fire extinguishers with them. Relax and enjoy.
I gave up going to the buskers when all their act was standing around talking for most of their act then setting a price for you to donate. Maybe the acts have changed since then.
With each passing year the acts become more about begging and less about talent/entertainment.
Is it just me, or are Haligonians getting dumber with each passing second? If it was a fire hazard, do you actually think they would be letting him do his act there? Let’s see..the Buskers have been going on for 29 years, and not once have their been any fires at any of the stages. Coincidence? I think not.
And before you all jump on me for the Haligonians comment, I was born and raised here. And yes, I’m plenty old enough to back up my facts.

In the first few years the buskers in the festival struck me as people with a talent that they had developed and were eager to share. There were some very unique acts, such as a one man band from Germany, that made it a very enjoyable experience. There were no long monologues about how expensive it was for them to travel and how they needed the crowd to be generous. They simple put a hat on the ground and let their performance speak for itself.
Over the years it seemed to turn into a different event – people with, for the most part mediocre talent, looking to make money and have a certain lifestyle. Once they started giving long preambles to cajole the audience into giving more or had a suggested donation level it was obvious that it was more about the money than the show. The talent level dropped. It became a soulless spectacle. I stopped attending.

My comment on this bitch, heavily critical of the Australians on the basis of their country being first established in the 18th. century as a penal colony at Botany Bay, was deleted. However it was intended as a spoof. I thought it was obvious but I guess it wasn’t.
