I agree that you did nothing wrong, and dude is an asshole, but you should still look before you cross (for your own safety).
Perhaps they had looked and may have even been a fair bit across the intersection. Sounds like the car had stopped but then the driver got mouthy. If it was the one near D’mouth. Genl. I have often seen some people continue to drive along in their lane if the pedestrian is not near it, or has crossed it. So many folks just can not wait up for a few seconds.

Did you make sure the car has adequate time to stop, One thing I’ve noticed with this adults who don’t drive era, is people who walk out in the crosswalk thinking cars can stop INSTANTLY! Its quite nerve wracking, I have a small sports car with huge brakes, so it does stop quick, but a F150 or a 2002 minivan….. Not so much… and in winter its a joke!
perhaps you didnt allow the cars enough time to safely come to a stop when you pressed the button, more than likely immediately walked out as if you had a force field around you. Probably caused more than one car to jam on their brakes excessively, and then you more than likely held up traffic by moseying like it was sunday in the park. Ive seen it too many times to have any sympathy anymore. too many idiot drivers, and just as many clueless, reckless pedestrians to match perfectly with the drivers.
