Yes, we have drums. Yes my boyfriend’s band jams once a week. But we do it in our own HOUSE. Which is attached in no way to yours. NEVER past 9:30, and never for longer than a couple of hours at a time. and NEVER with the windows open. The boys understand the importance of respecting your neighbors when the basement is the jam spot! They could go all night if they wanted to, but they don’t out of respect for you and our city’s bylaw. By the way, you wouldn’t even hear it if you didn’t spend half your lives smoking like chimneys on your porch! IT ISN’T EVEN LOUD. Just being able to hear something at perfectly reasonable times of the day doesn’t warrant a complaint. Oh, and if it really bothers you so much, come over here and tell us. The guy doing our windows could care less if you don’t like it and are “going to do something about it in the summer”. It’s obivously not that loud if you can wait that long! He also likes us enough to give us the heads up.

–Will long a complaint the next time you go all “Jerry Springer” in the front yard!

  1. If you’re not breaking the noise by law, which I believe is between 11 PM and 6 AM, correct me if I’m wrong, make all the fucking racket you want, they have no recourse.

  2. Gee, I wish you were my neighbours…. oh, look at that! There’s a rock concert happening daily in my house too so I can’t hear a damn thing happening outside! LOL Fuck ’em! Pissing off your neighbours is exactly why rock n’ roll was invented! Take a bow!

  3. For this kind of noise, N-300 states that the evening times are 9:30 PM on weekdays (M-F), and 7 PM on Saturday and Sunday. I believe it used to be 11 PM. The OP has it right.

The comment about the neighbours being outside was gratuitous though. Is noise somehow OK if it’s not loud enough to be more than a dull mumble inside a house, but is nevertheless seriously annoying in someone’s backyard? And who cares why they are outside – is it a higher-quality complaint if they’re outside on their porch having a tea and reading a magazine on a warm summer night, as opposed to ducking outside for a smoke in the winter? Seems childish and stupid to reduce a squabble to that level.

  4. I recently checked into this bylaw as well, and I do not have it word for word in front of me, but I also recall it stating, that you are not to be so loud as to disrupt the peace and tranquillity of a neighbourhood….basically, yes, you can be loud, but not so loud as to be disruptive to persons off your property. Now, that being said, from the bitch, I gather the neighbours are just assholes. Just because you can hear something you don’t like, doesn’t make it noise and doesn’t make it disruptive. I say tell em to smoke on the other side of the house and stfu or next time they’re out there set the drums up in the driveway…show em how loud it really can be.

  5. i can understand this person a lot. i used to have two bands, two, count them, rehearsing in my basement in sprytown years ago. we never had a complaint, if anything, the neighbors enjoy the free tunes. it was most 50’s, 60’s and 70’s rock, but there was a little bit of other throw in as a filler. and not one damn person complained ever. and yes, we were loud, with 8 6 foot peevee heads and speaker cabinettes to a group. trainor amps set to 5 or 6, and you get quite a din, for the area in the basement. and every friday evening, there was a drop in, for free. no booze or dope, just come, listen, enjoy for an hour or so, then leave happier for it. either we are missing something here, or just a very bitchy neighbor. something is left out, please fill in.

  6. i’m sure you’re in the right, but you are already well aware of that.
i think somebody just wants to disassociate themselves from thier less fortunate neighbors due to perceived shortcomings in thier own lives.
i wish you well on your journey of self-acceptance.
    y’stuck up bitch.
