You are tough, hard headed and rough around the edges and I love you for everything you are.
You treat me with the more respect than I have ever been given by anyone else in my 39 years!
The Wharf Rat Rally in Digby was the best vacation anyone has ever taken me on… Riding the coastline with you…whale watching….eating scallops and drinking beer, not to mention the late night conversations about where we are going from here.
I love you and I will do anything to make you a happy man! —Stewie’s Chick (Biker Chick in Training)

  2. What happened Zedman? I was keeping an eye out for your bike (thought I might have seen it parked amongst the thousands) or your flaming skull helmet but, no luck. Did you break down? Did you get pulled over by the Mounties? (They were out in full force on Saturday, all up and down the 103) I had great time! Only way it could have been better is if I had my own bike. There is something not quite kosher about driving 2 hours to a bike rally in your Nissan Sentra. It’s kinda sacreligious; feels….dirty.

  3. had a plethora of issues getting mine going at the last minute…
basically had to scrap that idea and take it in to have new seals put in.
can’t be leaking gas like a sieve in this day and age.
(they dried out while it was being rebuilt)

so had to ride second fiddle on a goldwing.
    ug and grrr.

  4. ah shit! That really sucks, zZz. Sorry man. Sincerely.
But, there really is nothing wrong with having to ride….ahem….bitch..(heehee)…and on a Goldwing, no less.

(Sorry man. I couldn’t help myself)
Well, that’s too bad but at least you made it up there. It was quite the sight, no? CRAAAZZY the amount of bikes that were there and they just kept streaming in all day long. Truly was something to see. There were some beautiful machines the custom builders were really cool too. I loved that Led Sled Customs trailer. They make some really cool stuff. And that shop out of Quebec with the Blade bike. An absolute work of art to say the least. A rolling sculpture. I will probably go back again next year, hopefully on a bike this time.
    Do you ride too, ‘Tron?

  5. I do not. My parents live near Digby so it’s become tradition for us to head down and check out the bikes and stuff.

  6. I could almost smell the crack wafting through digby as I headed in.

yeah, there were some sick bikes… holy.
easily beat their record of 20 000 last year.

  7. you may actually be able to handle that sucker… at only 355 lbs.
just don’t let it get away from ya. If it had wings, you could fly.
If you want to go the sport way, that’s fine though you could settle for a cheap CBR in the mean time just to get used to it and get around town.

If you want to ride Biker style though, I could see you on a marauder. they’re deceivingly large for their weight. They’re actually what I took the bike course on. Plenty of power for ya.

  8. Excellent choice, Tron. Duc’s are very good bikes. I’ve never ridden one but have read and been told that they are far from comfortable? That’s really only something that you can determine though. Picking a bike is very much a personal choice. What may work for one person may be likened to a medieval torture device by someone else. It’s kinda like shopping for a bed, you have to try a few out before making your choice. Like zZz said, figure out how you are most likely to use it. Are you going to be mainly using it to jaunt around town, maybe the occasional quick sunday drive, then a sport bike (crotch rocket) or standard (a.k.a. naked, such as your Ducati) would be a good choice. You want to commute and maybe hit a few trails along the way? A dual sport bike may be your best bet. (Verseys, V-strom, Triumph Tiger, BMW, etc)
You want to cruise around town in relative all-day comfort but maybe take an occasional out-of province trip, then a cruiser may be a better option. (Too many to list. By far, the most popular type of bike). There are also sport-tourers like the Triumph Sprint or Kawasaki Concours are examples. Think European sport sedan. Built for long haul rides with saddlebags and super comfy but still nimble and quick enough to get you through a city centre at rush hour. Then there are all sorts of variations in between with countless modifications to make the bike your own and customize it to your needs and wants. Style is one aspect for sure. Afterall, it’s usually the first thing you notice when you look at a bike, how does it look. But it shouldn’t be the only factor to look at when you go to buy a bike. Bottom line, do some research and find the best bike for you. Don’t fall into the brand-loyal crowds, i.e. If it’s not a Harley, it’s not really a bike! (I hate these idiots) A TRUE biker appreciates ALL bikes and their various styles and attributes. The key is to find the one that works for YOU. You’ll be the one riding it. Finally, pick a bike that works with your experience level. If you are a new rider, don’t go out and buy a 1000cc supersport. At the very least, you won’t enjoy it because you’ll be shitting your pants everytime you ride. At the worst, you’ll kill yourself. They are just so scary fast nowadays. Get some experience first then, when you’re ready, move on up to a bigger bike. Oh, and TAKE THE COURSE!! SO much fun, you learn the right way to do things and you’re a fully licensed motorcyclist when you finish PLUS you get a break on insurance too. The way things are going for me, by the time I finally get my first bike, I’ll have to probably take the course over again lol DAMN I wanna ride!!

  9. lol I’m definitely not looking to get a bike anytime soon. My post was mostly hypothetical in nature.

  10. tsk tsk. well the course is pretty pricey… and makes for a couple long days…
    but is also quite fun.

  11. Fun fact: some insurance companies won’t insure a bike unless you have a policy with them for your car.
