You cheap fucking bastard! This is the second time this week the dryers have been broken. Those old machines you took from another building and put in mine are junk. The guy who used to have your job put in brand new washers when they gave out. If you are trying to impress your boss by cutting costs I can’t see how this method is working (you spend more on service calls than the cost of new machines). Also you have put everyone’s rent up $60 in the last two years without doing anything to the building. I hope you get fired. —Pissed off tenant

  1. An increase for doing nothing n the last two years would be caused by higher taxes, power, oil, etc.

Naw, Kill them are actually pretty good. A lot better than the last few owners of my building.

If you’re having a problem with the manager then go higher.

  2. Any chance you live on south street in a building will all one bedroom apartments? Or on Queen street in a building with a pizza joint in the basement?

I just ask because it sounds like my building or another one owned by my landlord. The sticker on the washer and dryers say 1984, and I think came from some sort of HRM auction. The rent has gone up every year with no improvement to the building etc. Ahh, living in the south end, fun times.

  3. Please explain the difference between “new” and “brand new”….I have never understood its origins nor usage 🙁

  4. owners have to show why rent is more than 4 percent in any one year. unless they spend a lot of money on repairs, he has no right to do so.

  5. LS sorry, a landlord can charge or raise the rent to whatever they like as long as they give proper notice before the anniversary date. There is no provision in the Residential Tenancy Act on restrictions on the increase of rent. You can have one building with matching units and can charge whatever you like. Sixty units, sixty different rents. However, it makes for bad business practice in that it’ll cause more headaches.

  6. He isn’t the property manager he is the superintendant and he is only doing what the property management company is telling him what to do.If you call the company directly and tell them the problem with the old machines then a work order will be put in ….also as for the rent that again goes through the property management company NOT the superintendant…he just delivers the bad news…
